Scottish Universities Golfing Society

Scottish Universities Golfing Society Home to the Scottish Universities Golfing Society, a place to share updates on fixtures and engage with both existing members and current students.

We are a small society with around 200 members (all of whom played university golf while students), and play a wide range of fixtures each season against the current Scottish university golf teams. Matches are held against teams from the Oxford & Cambridge, London, Dublin and Queens (Belfast) University Golfing Societies, and we also participate in various other matches and competitions. We hold a

Spring Meeting at Prestwick GC, Summer meeting Worplesdon GC and an Autumn Meeting at Gullane GC, where members compete for the Society’s trophies, some of which date from the 1930’s. Having been founded in 1906, we celebrated our centenary at a special event in October 2006, as documented here. A history of the Society was written by former Hon Secretary and member, Gordon Simmonds, to mark the occasion. Limited copies are still available – please enquire should you like to pick up a copy.

1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer. On the 24th June SUGS member, Robert Watson, will be playing 72 holes of golf to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, a fantastic charity that funds research into groundbreaking prostate cancer care.

I’m sure Rob would thoroughly appreciate any donations from society members in what I’m sure will go a very long way for the charity. Please see the link below to Rob’s page where you will be able to donate to the cause.

Thanks in advance!
