Congratulations to our long term DBS member, volunteer and until recently committee member Eddie for completing his 1000th dive in Palau last week!!! 🥳👏🏻🌊
Here's some more info and a few pictures of Eddie's diving journey (last picture is dive 1000!!)...
"For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Eddie Adie, and I’ve been a member of Deep Blue Scuba for around 17 years.
I first “dipped my toe in the water” when I was gifted a Discover Scuba Diving session at Merchiston School in November 2005. Then there was a wee gap until 2009, when I took the plunge and completed my OW and AOW between August and October that year. I was hooked!
After a wee bit of “encouragement” from the DBS instructors and DMs, I signed up to become a Rescue Diver in March 2013 — still one of the best courses I’ve ever done, even with the horizontal rain and biggish waves at Loch Long that weekend. I then decided to take the next step and become a PADI Pro, completing my Divemaster training in November 2014.
In September 2019, I turned to the dark side 😅 and got more into technical diving, completing my Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures course.
I wouldn’t have got anywhere without the support of the following folk over the years, so whether you see this or not, thank you for opening my eyes to the wonders of scuba diving:
Simon Ellis (OW), Luke Schultz (AOW), Yvonne Press (RD & TDI), Paul Murray (variety of specialty courses), and Tom Cavens (DM).
Learning to dive opens up a world that very few people ever get to experience, and it’s taken me to some truly fabulous places.
From dive 1 in Loch Long, to dive 100 in Egypt, and dive 1,000 in Palau, I’m still completely in love with our sport. I still learn or see something new on every dive, and I hope that continues for many more years to come."
Thanks so much for sharing Eddie!!! Here's to the next 1000 dives!!! 🍻
