🥊 Scottish Development Championships Update 🥊

Ja-Rule made his first appearance at the Championships, keen to box from the opening bell. He showed skill and put his combinations together against an unorthodox opponent, with both lads landing big shots. 👏

The contest was stopped late in the third and final round. Naturally, Ja-Rule was disappointed not to reach the final bell after a spirited performance, with his efforts also recognised by the winning team. 🤝

Plenty of positives and valuable experience to take forward. Head high, Ja-Rule—everyone at Lochend is behind you. Your journey is just getting started 💚❤️

Yet again thanks to our coaches Tam, Billy, Cammy & Stuart. 😃 today was a long day

🥊 Scottish Development Championships Update 🥊

Peter Beattie made his first appearance at the Championships in only his second bout, giving a good account of himself with positive spells and pressing the fight. 👏

The contest was stopped with fewer than 10 seconds remaining in the final round. Peter boxed well in a close contest, and we felt he had earned the chance to see it through to the final bell.

Plenty of positives and valuable experience to take forward. Head high, Peter—everyone at Lochend is proud of your effort. 💚❤️ This is the beginning of your Lochend journey

It takes heart.

Layland wins his semi-final and is through to tomorrow’s final! 👏

Credit to his opponent, Adian from Glasgow City BC, who put up a strong fight and helped make it a great contest. Respect to both lads. 🤝

One more to go, Layland—everyone at Lochend is behind you! 💚❤️

It takes heart.

🥊 BEHIND EVERY BOXER IS A COACH WHO KEEPS SHOWING UP.

People see the rounds, the results and the hand raised. What they don’t always see is what it costs a coach to be standing in that corner.

The evenings given up after a full day’s work. The weekends away from their own families. Missed family occasions, cancelled plans and annual leave used to take boxers to competitions.

The early starts, long journeys and late nights—then getting up for work the next morning.

Lost earnings. Fuel, food and accommodation paid from their own pockets. Hours spent arranging bouts, organising travel and dealing with paperwork long after the gym doors have closed.

Every hour given to someone else’s child is also an hour away from their own family. Behind that commitment are partners and children making sacrifices too.

And there is an emotional cost. Worrying about a boxer who is struggling. Helping them through a defeat. Carrying the responsibility for their welfare. Investing years of patience, encouragement and belief, knowing there are no guarantees of success—or even a thank you.

At Lochend, that commitment has continued for nearly 20 years.

It has never been done for money. It comes from caring about the boxers, wanting the best for them and giving them opportunities to grow—in boxing and in life.

Our coaches love what they do. They consider it a privilege to be trusted with someone’s child, to watch a nervous beginner grow in confidence and to play a part in the person they become.

That love is why they give so much. Seeing a boxer overcome a fear, find their confidence or achieve something they once thought impossible makes those sacrifices worthwhile.

Our coaches share the victories, carry the disappointments and keep coming back. Through every high and low, they continue to give their time, experience and heart.

That time is given freely, but it comes at a personal cost.

Respect it. Show commitment in return. Turn up, listen, communicate and appreciate the people who keep turning up for you.

To our coaches, and the families who share them with Lochend: thank you. Your sacrifices make a difference far beyond the ropes.

Lochend Boxing Club. It takes heart. ❤️🥊
