Update.

We’re disappointed to announce that Conor Quinn has pulled out from this Friday’s British & Commonwealth Super Flyweight Title fight against Matty McHale.

We’ve been working tirelessly behind the scenes to secure a replacement opponent, with the fight offered to Super Flyweights across the country to give Matty the opportunity he deserves.

It’s an incredibly frustrating situation after all the work he has put into this camp, but we can confirm Matty will still fight this Friday.

We’re still pushing for titles this year and there is still a huge year ahead for him.

Let’s get behind Matty and give him the support he deserves 👊

🥊 LIFE AFTER LOCHEND — OSCAR GRIEVE

From Novice & Intermediate Champion to launching his own business with his brother — BeSpring Iced Tea. 👏

Oscar Grieve is one of the many young boxers who came through the doors of Lochend Boxing Club, represented the club and achieved success in the ring before eventually moving on to the next chapter of life.

And that next chapter matters to us too.

Over the years, we’ve watched young people come through Lochend, grow up and find their own path.

They start and finish apprenticeships.
Go to college and university.
Get jobs and build careers.
Start businesses.
Get married.
Start families of their own.
And simply get on with life.

Boxing may only be one chapter of their story, but what they learn along the way can stay with them long after the gloves come off.

Discipline. Commitment. Confidence. Resilience.
Turning up when you don't feel like it.
Taking setbacks and moving forward.
Working hard for something you want.

During his time at Lochend, Oscar became a Novice and Intermediate Champion.

Now he's putting that drive into a completely different challenge, launching his own brand — BeSpring Iced Tea.

We're delighted to see one of our former boxers getting out there, taking a chance and building something of his own, and we're very happy to give Oscar and BeSpring a wee push from everyone at Lochend. ❤️

We’re proud of the champions who have come through our doors.

But we're every bit as proud of the people they become and where life takes them afterwards.

🥊 CHOOSE A DIFFERENT PATH 🥊

Football. Rugby.

They’re often the sports kids naturally gravitate towards — the mainstream choices, the team sports everyone knows.

But boxing offers something different.

Boxing is individual.

When a young person steps through those doors, there’s no team to hide behind. They learn to rely on themselves, listen, work, improve and keep going when something is difficult.

They learn that confidence isn’t something you’re simply born with — it’s something you build.

Boxing develops discipline, resilience, fitness, coordination and self-belief. And while you compete as an individual, you train alongside others who encourage you, push you and understand exactly what the journey takes.

And importantly, taking up boxing doesn’t mean you have to fight.

For many kids, simply learning to box, getting fitter, mastering new skills and becoming more confident is the achievement.

Some will eventually choose competition.

Some never will.

Both belong in a boxing club.

Sometimes choosing the sport that isn’t mainstream can help a young person discover something in themselves they didn’t know was there.
