The Art of Jumping Before You Fall.
Suppressing your inner calling, your urge for change or your want to improve doesn’t result in that voice going away, it only makes it 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿.
Sure you may be able to turn a blind eye to its existence for a while, but it will keep finding opportunities to show itself.
That’s why we must train ourselves to take action before it becomes unbearable not to. Start building the habit of doing what you know needs to be done before it consumes you. Learn to '𝗝𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹’.
The first time is scary. You’re facing all your fears, looking them dead in the eye and deciding to dance with them. But most commonly, the story you’re telling yourself about what could happen is far worse than the eventual reality.
Your brain is screaming at you to do anything other than the uncomfortable, but you decide to do it anyway. It’s in that moment when you cross the threshold and begin training yourself into a healthier pattern.
But like anything, it takes time and consistency to grow your capacity to do it. You wouldn’t expect big biceps the first time you step into a gym right? It takes time and consistently training that muscle for it to grow. The same goes for your brain and rewiring it to ingrain a new and healthier pattern.
Exposure, consistency and patience are all required to get to a place where you feel more comfortable with the process of stepping off that cliff of insecurity and fear, and into the abyss of possibility and opportunity. The more you do it, the less you fear it.
Start small and work your way up. You wouldn’t jump off the 10m diving board before you’ve jumped off the 3m one.
Take a small action today that you’ve been avoiding. One you know will make you feel better upon completion and note how it makes you feel. From here, as your confidence increases, work your way up to the bigger actions you need to make, practising to '𝗝𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹’.
