Today marks an exciting new chapter as we officially take over the academy from John at PlayIt LoveIt.
First and foremost, we want to reassure all players and parents that the fantastic coaching staff, values and high standards that have made the academy such a success will remain at the heart of everything we do.
We’d like to thank John for the work he has put into building such a positive environment for young players to learn and develop.
As Gold & Gray Soccer Academy, we’re looking forward to building on those strong foundations while bringing the experience and knowledge we’ve gained over the last 10 years working with thousands of young players in Edinburgh.
We’re excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to continue supporting the development of every player both on and off the pitch. You’ll be seeing this post shared across both pages as we begin the transition. Going forward, the Aberdeen page will continue to be the home for all local updates, news and academy information for our players and families in the North East.

We’re delighted to share some exciting news - Gold and Gray Soccer Academy has officially taken over in Aberdeen.
Having worked closely with founder John over the years, we have immense respect for what he has created - a coaching environment built on passion, quality, and community. When John made the decision to move on, we were honoured to be the team he chose to continue that legacy.

For the community, the transition will be seamless. The coaching staff remain in place, all existing sessions continue as normal, and the facilities stay exactly as they are. What we’re adding is the expertise and programmes we’ve developed through our work in Edinburgh - bringing new opportunities to an already fantastic setup.

We’re excited about what lies ahead for Aberdeen and we look forward to meeting everyone over the coming months. If anyone has any questions feel free to reach out ⚽️

Meet Our ‘Gillsy’ ⚽️🔦

We first met Ryan McGill when he was in S4 at South Queensferry High School. At the time, Ryan was finding school challenging and joined our Onside Programme, which we deliver in schools across Edinburgh.

As part of the programme, pupils design and deliver their own football sessions. Through weekly mentoring with Coach Cragsy, Ryan discovered a real passion for coaching and realised this was something he wanted to pursue beyond school.
Since then, Ryan has gone on to achieve his SFA coaching badges and is now employed by us, delivering the very same Onside Programme to pupils across Edinburgh.
He was even invited to support at a recent P7 camp, a testament to the strong relationships he builds and the positive impact he has on the young people he works with.

Ryan is a fantastic role model for pupils who may be facing challenges at school, showing that with the right support and guidance, they can find something they truly excel in.
We’re incredibly proud of how far he’s come in such a short time - he’s a brilliant member of our team. 👏⚽️
