I feel compelled to share what happened to me last Tuesday.

On Tuesday, I had a biopsy at the hospital. The nurse warned me that I might feel dizzy afterwards. I rested for about 20 minutes before leaving and, instead of taking the lift, I chose the stairs.
The first flight was fine, but as I turned to step onto the second flight, dizziness suddenly hit and my body just went. I don’t remember how I got down. The only clear sensation I remember was the feeling of Going Up Front on the Chair.
Fortunately, I hit an unlocked door. It stopped me. I was standing.
Apart from the shock, I wasn’t hurt. I sat on the ground where I landed, looked at that flight of stairs, and felt deeply grateful. In that moment, I realised something very clearly: my regular Pilates practice had just saved me.

Today’s practice was Reformer and Chairs - dedicated to the skills that helped me avoid an accident on Tuesday.
On the Reformer, my intention was long wrists and unlocked elbows. Every exercise felt harder, yet I found more twoway stretch throughout my body.
After that, I moved onto the High Chair, Wunda Chair and Arm Chair. During the chair work, I kept thinking about what Joe Pilates wanted to teach us:
a well-connected body,
a strong centre that allows the arms and legs to move freely,
I believe his method is about building a strong, functional body-one that can cope with whatever life throws at us and help us avoid injury in unexpected moments.
Pilates is not about aesthetics. It is practical. It translates directly into everyday life. This is the kind of strength that supports longevity.
Sharing a few chair exercises today. There are only a handful of High Chair exercises, but they are incredibly valuable. They teach us how to stand, walk, climb - and how to find two way stretch in every form.
