NUVOC Volleyball Club, Edinburgh NUVOC Volleyball Club is based in Edinburgh, and turns 50 years old this year! The club is nearly 50 years old has been on the go now since 1975. Simples

We have teams and sessions for all levels; from School to Senior Premier Division. NUVOC Volleyball Club, Edinburgh is the Capitals largest clubs with nearly 500 members. NUVOC currently has over 10 volleyball teams playing in competitive volleyball leagues in Scoltand. A host of volleyball coaches allows the club to quickly develop novice players into competent competitors with a bit of fun thrown in for good measure. The club currently has three national league senior men's teams, one national league senior women's teams, four junior boys and two junior girls teams as well as two mixed district league teams as well as recreational teams. 2026/27 π“’π“”π“π“’π“žπ“ 𝓗𝓔𝓐𝓓 π“’π“žπ“π“’π“—π“”π“’

Our U16 Lionesses will continue this season to be led by David McCrae who is relishing the prospect of bringing on the next wave of young players.

U16 Lions will also continue to be led by last season’s helmsman, William Wu. He is also looking forward to engaging with the new crop of young players moving up from our U14 programme.

The NUVOC junior programme continues to produce young coaches. Two more alumni from this programme are now set to coach our U18s.

Our U18 NUVOC Jaguars will once again be led by Aga Wieczorek, former NUVOC junior player. While Derren Hutson-Boyle steps into the coaching setup to take on the U18 NUVOC Pumas.

Derren continues the tradition of having active Men’s 1st team players involved in coaching every u18 boys team since 2020.

What a week!

Our pre-season camps, initial training sessions and first tryouts all came together this week. Our U14s, U16s, U18s had their pre-season training camp through the day, while our SVL teams, plus potential new recruits went through their paces in the evening. 27 junior sessions and 14 senior sessions, sandwiched between our coaching conference at the start of the week and referees conference at the end, had 14 of our coaching crew stepping on to the coaching floor for the first club sessions of the year. They looked after almost 100 youngsters and 100 seniors over the week, so it’s looking strong for the season ahead.

Co-ordinating the week while coaching or presenting at 16 of the 44 sessions has left me knackered, but looking forward to next week’s start of official training. Bring it on!

Our U18 NUVOC Tigresses will once again be led by Scottish Coach of the Year 2025–26, Isla Wilkie.

Fresh from a record-breaking season for our Tigresses, which saw them reach their first-ever junior final, Scottish internationalist Isla and the team will be striving to keep improving and see where it takes them.

Stepping up to lead our U18 NUVOC Tigers for their jSVL and Scottish Cup campaigns is Ming Chang Zheng.

The Scotland U20 internationalist and Men’s 1st Team blocking star will lead our U18 boys’ programme for the coming season.

Leading the coaching of our district sides this coming season will be the dynamic duo of Xian Lee Pigganto & Joaquin Archer.

Both Xian and Joaquin have come up through the ranks and, having been to their coaching course are keen to pass on their experiences to our newest district teams.

The coaching provision shake-up continues, as Fraser Ner, after two successful seasons leading our St.Thomas’ NUVOC side, switches over to Gillespies NUVOC to lead them into an exciting campaign in a 9-team Men’s SVL 3.

Jerry Obiekwe comes to NUVOC after a successful season coaching in Italy with Pallavolo Fasano U19 team while playing at the top of Serie C in Italy.

After previous coaching roles with Ireland U22 Men’s National Team & the University of Galway, Jerry brings a wealth of experience ontop of his 20+ caps for Ireland, and will be a great addition to the club.

Jerry will also be assisted by Sean Platts Stobie, as they look to make a mark in Men’s SVL One this season.

After 3 years coaching the club’s U18s boys programme Duncan Carmichael steps up to our St.Thomas’ NUVOC team.

Duncan will work closely with Danny Traylor’s W1 and our new U20 Women’s team, for a completely revamped Women’s section.

Duncan’s 7 caps for Scotland and coaching experience will be a great benefit to our Women’s SVL Two team

Danny Traylor, 3 time SCA & 2 time BVF Nations Championship winning coach (all in the last 3 years), will take the reins of our Women’s 1st Team upon their return to the Premier League.

With 12 caps for Scotland ontop of his coaching credentials, it’s an exciting time for our ever expanding female programme at NUVOC.
