So that's that. The Electric Cycle Company is no more.

12 years hard graft up in smoke and I'm left with nothing.
Scotmid (my landlord) rented me a building I couldn't use fully as it had a prohibition notice on it from the fire brigade deeming half the premises only suitable for storage (despite being advertised as 2 floors of retail space) and when I threatened them with legal action they took me to court and made me personally bankrupt over unpaid rent.

I got evicted from both premises on Friday and despite the assurances of the bailiffs that I had 14 days to collect what I couldn't move out, Scotmid won't let me back in and is claiming title over everything left behind in lieu of unpaid rent. If you have a bike in store contact me and I'll give the contact details of the solicitor.

I am now left with no tools and no way of earning a living whilst my mental health in is tatters! (Back to my shrink)

Good news!!

We're pleased to announce that inclusive cycling is back in Edinburgh.

As you know, we were unable to secure funding to continue running the ABC, which closed in May of last year. Since then, we have been working behind the scenes to find a partner and different funding source.

We have now loaned our fleet of adaptive cycles to Thistle who will run the sessions with support from City of Edinburgh Council. This means that the sessions will continue to be free of charge.

Sessions will run Thursday afternoon and Sunday morning at Saughton Park and on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons at Thistle’s Centre of Wellbeing at Craigmillar.

Suzanne Forup, head of development Scotland at Cycling UK, said:

“We’re delighted to see the cycles back in operation, and we really hope that many of the previous participants, along with some new faces, will be able to come along and benefit.

“We know that cycling has many health benefits in particular and we’re so pleased to be working with Thistle and Edinburgh City Council to make cycling accessible to people who might have thought that cycling wasn’t for them or not possible.”
