Following the British Orienteering selection announcements, we are very proud to say we have TWELVE athletes selected to run for Great Britain so far this year! 😍🇬🇧🤩💚🥳

Last weekend, EUOC headed off a massive journey all the way to Wales for the highlight of our year - BUCS🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🚌! Our convoy of minibuses embarked on the 8+ hour drive, with a shakeout run pitstop and a birthday celebration🎂!

After a late night (courtesy of ShUOC😡), Saturday morning came and we headed to Merthyr Mawr for the individual race where we won an incredible 6 medals! Edinburgh took 1st and 2nd in women’s and men’s A, with Heriot Watt in 3rd in the men’s. We also took 3rd place in women’s B! Over the A, B and C courses, EUOC had 15 (fifteen!!) top 10 results!!🤩🤩

Off we went to Bristol to dress up as various characters from Peter Pan🧚⏰🐊🏴‍☠️ and enjoy a group dinner with friends from all over the country!

After a night of excellent food😋 but limited dancing from EUOC (best to get that beauty sleep...), we rocked up to the relays on Sunday ready to replicate the previous day’s prowess. And we did just that! On the men’s side we saw some truly stellar runs with some silverware for both Edinburgh and Heriot Watt (1st and 3rd) and some incredible depth as we finished 7th and 9th as well. And if you thought the men had a comfortable winning margin, the women still managed to top it! Our ladies graced the podium in 1st and 3rd, along with a very impressive 5th place. Also, a big shout out to our two other teams proudly repping those EUOC greens. Thus, we defended our BUCS title and brought Fergus the Stag back to Edi once again🏆💚!

Edinburgh KO Sprint JEC fundraiser - 10th May 2026

As we wind up to the big summer races, sprinting season has arrived! Join us in Edinburgh on the 10th of May to try out the Knockout Sprint - orienteering’s newest and most exciting format. There’ll be a qualification race in the morning, followed by three exhilirating knockout rounds in the afternoon, or another sprint if that’s more your style. And the best bit - anyone can give it a go! In addition to the elite classes there will be an OPEN class, seeded so that you’ll be pitted against your closest rivals all the way to the end. It’s perfect practice for selection races and the British Champs. More details - including entries - coming soon.

JEC athletes

JEC is the Junior European Cup, one of a few international junior races held each year. It’s an important competition for both performance and development as we can send 24 athletes to experience what it’s like to race at the highest level. However the associated cost of sending a full team is large, and so we’re putting on this event. All proceeds will go to supporting this year’s and future years’ team - helping our juniors continue to achieve their potential.

We’re back! It’s been a busy few weeks for us as we came back to uni. We’ve been to Pasta Nights, KF, ran for free pizza. We all got dressed up for Sports Ball where James won Male Athlete of the Year🤩! And of course, we hosted our annual Edinburgh Big Weekend (write up pending⏳).

This week concludes our Movember challenge!🥸 We competed to see who could run the most elevation this month, with an original goal of 60,000m. Within the first two weeks both of the unis had exceeded this goal! It was a close competition with Sheffield taking the early lead, but Edinburgh clawed their way back to end on a tie!😬

Let’s not forget what we were doing this for! Please donate to Movember if you can, it would mean a lot to all the men in our clubs❤️.
