This is Jimmy Wardhaugh's No. 10 shirt, worn during the 1958 League Cup Final β the game where Hearts beat Partick Thistle 5β1 and lifted the trophy in front of a huge Hampden crowd.
Back then, players weren't issued kits as standard, and cup final strips were often kept by the players themselves rather than handed back to the club. That's exactly why pieces like this survive at all, torn seams and all β and why they're so rare to come across today.
Wardhaugh was part of the legendary Hearts forward line of the era, the Terrible Trio, and this shirt is a direct physical link to one of the most successful periods in the club's history.
What looks like an old, ripped top to some is, to us, a piece of Hearts history worth protecting. ππ€
