Your nervous system can’t read a calendar. It only reads
signals: safe, or not safe.
A tight deadline, a packed inbox, an argument you keep replaying in
your head - none of it is a lion. But your body reacts like one is right
behind you, flooding you with the same stress chemicals either way.
That’s not a flaw. It’s a very old alarm system doing its job a little too
well.
Nervous system regulation starts with that distinction, not forcing
yourself to “calm down,” but teaching your body that the deadline
isn’t a predator.
