Do you assess in all planes of movement?
We move in 3 planes along 3 axes.
⬇️⬇️⬇️
The Sagittal, frontal, and transverse.
This is from the side, from the front/back, and from above/below (ie. birdseye view).
It’s easy to get stuck only looking from one perspective, but you may be missing a big part of the picture with your client!
Example:
A deadlift is primarily a sagittal plane movement, meaning the biggest movements are in the sagittal plane (ie. Hip and knee flexion). However, it is important to ensure movement in the frontal and transverse planes are also efficient to maximise performance and reduce risk of injury (ie. Knees in line with shoe laces).
Is your client experiencing pain?
It might be from a movement happening in a plane of movement you are not looking at 👀
