That’s what most people get wrong about a transformation like this.

They see the weight loss…

Before we worked together, Arran had spent years doing what most men do:

That sentence tells me everything I need to know.

Not because he’s dieting…

Because he doesn’t have to.

For years, many men spend their time bouncing between two extremes:

They never spend enough time in the sweet spot.

Lean enough to feel confident.

Recovering well.

An incredible physical transformation… but the physique change only tells half the story.

Joe had been training for years before we started working together.

He knew how to train.
He knew how to diet.
He wasn’t lacking motivation.

But despite putting in the effort, his physique never reflected the work he was putting in.

Why?

👉🏼 Because his lifestyle wasn’t supporting his goals.

Like many men, he was trying to balance work, social events, weekends, eating out, relationships and everything else life throws at you…

Most guys never realise how close they are…

They spend years chasing the perfect programme, supplement, or strategy, while overlooking the handful of habits that actually determine their results.

The difference between looking like you train and looking like you’ve been training for years often comes down to the final 10%:

✅ Pushing sets hard enough
✅ Recovering properly
✅ Staying consistent when life gets busy
✅ Tracking progress objectively
✅ Being patient enough to let the process work

None of these are complicated.

But they do require doing the basics better than you have before - and doing them consistently for longer.

You don’t need to be overweight to be unhappy with your physique.

In fact, I’d argue that’s one of the most frustrating places to be.

Because from the outside, people think you’re doing fine.

You go to the gym…

You try to eat well…

You put the effort in…

Yet every time you look in the mirror, you’re reminded that your physique doesn’t reflect the work you’re putting in.

That was exactly where Phil found himself.

For years, he was doing what most men do:

❌ Training consistently, but without a clear progression strategy

❌ Trying to eat “healthy” without knowing exactly what was needed

❌ Working hard, but never seeing enough return for the effort

The problem wasn’t a lack of motivation…

The problem wasn’t a lack of discipline…

And it definitely wasn’t a lack of effort…

The problem was that he had no clear structure to follow.

One of my favourite client messages I’ve received recently.

Not because he’s the leanest he’s ever been…

Not because he’s at his lightest bodyweight…

But because for the first time ever…

He doesn’t feel like he HAS to diet before a holiday.

For most guys, the cycle looks like this:
➡️ Diet hard
➡️ Get in shape
➡️ Celebrate the result
➡️ Relax too much
➡️ Gain back the fat
➡️ Feel uncomfortable again
➡️ Start another diet

Repeat.

Year after year.

The problem isn’t usually getting lean.

The problem is what happens AFTER.

Most men never learn how to maintain their results.

They spend months chasing a physique they’re proud of, only to lose it because there’s no structure, accountability, or plan once the diet ends.

That’s why so many people find themselves in a constant cycle of:

Diet → Rebound → Diet Again → Rebound

Meanwhile, they’re spinning their wheels and making very little long-term progress.

The goal shouldn’t be to get lean for 8 weeks.

The goal should be to build a physique you can maintain year-round.

Because when you stay relatively lean:

✅ You feel confident in your clothes all year
✅ Holidays don’t require a panic diet
✅ Muscle gaining phases become far more productive
✅ You stop undoing months of hard work
✅ You actually start looking like someone who trains

That’s exactly what this client of mine and I have achieved.

We’ve controlled the reverse diet, maintained a lean physique, built more muscle, and now he looks leaner at a higher bodyweight and body-fat percentage than he did previously.

That’s how you transform your physique permanently rather than spending years going round in circles.
