6 MONTH LEAN BULK: Week 4

Weight & strength is going up!

Over half a kg gained in a month, well on track with my weight gain goals.

Calories slightly increased from last month, whilst been lean looks good I genuinely had the strength of a 13 year old girl.

More food has got me shifting some heavy iron and it feels goooood. Energy has always shot up.

To the eyes - no real difference yet with my physique yet. In fact I’ll look less impressive as this lean bulk progresses and I put on more fat but just wait for the cut 🌚

Onto month 2 of 6. We keep pushing.

6 Month Lean Bulk 📈 Week 1

Now it’s coach’s turn to add some size.

Will be posting weekly progress updates on this 24 week journey so follow and see how far I can take my physique.

As always drug free 🍃

Main Goal: To add as much lean tissue by April 2024 as possible.

Weekly Targets: 0.2kg weight gain per week would be ideal & healthy although I’m not overly fixated on the scales, I’m more interested in body recomposition.

I’ll be monitoring strength increases and aiming to break PRs.

Focal points: Traps, upper chest, back thickness & glutes.

Supplements: Whey protein, creatine + collagen.

Recent illnesses resulted in me dropping a lot of weight but I’m back to full health now, last week was really solid both in the gym and diet wise - very motivated heading into winter!

I actually haven’t bulked for over two years so the increase in calories is very welcome 🙌🏼

My leanness is already starting to go but as the old saying goes.. “if your abs are showin’ you ain’t growin”🤓

STOP BUYING SH*TTY COPY-PASTE PLANS 😩

I see this ALL the time.

Guys spending £50 or so on a crap cookie cutter program they bought from their favourite fitness influencer.

Don’t fall for this trap, here’s why it’s an awful idea:

1️⃣ IT’S NOT ABOUT YOU: These plans give a s**t about your individual starting point, body, or needs. It’s a one-size-fits-none approach.

2️⃣ IT’S LAZY MARKETING: Influencers push these plans because they’re easy money, not because they care about your gains.

3️⃣ SELLING DREAMS, NOT REALITY: They promise quick fixes and unreal results to sell their plans. In reality, sustainable progress takes time and effort.

4️⃣ ROIDED-UP ILLUSIONS 💉: Most of these influencers are juiced up but pretend they got jacked from their plan. You literally can’t compare.

5️⃣ YOUR GOALS MATTER 🎯: Your fitness journey should be tailored to your goals, not someone else's. These plans can derail your progress and leave you frustrated.

Remember, fitness is a personal journey.

Don't let cookie-cutter plans ruin your gains.

Client Spotlight: Ethan’s Two-Month Transformation 🥋

came to me with a unique set of goals. He recently started Brazilian Ju-Jitsu and wanted to take his performance to the next level, he actually wasn’t really concerned about changing his physique.

First off, let's talk about his weight. Ethan's lost 0.6kg on the scale. But here's where it gets interesting: he's been gaining muscle at the same time. You might be wondering, "How is that possible?"

We put Ethan on a maintenance calorie plan. Why? Because he's not just hitting the gym; he's also got a physically demanding job and is often on the move. We needed a plan that fuelled his sessions without packing on unnecessary pounds. It's all about balance!

Now, let's dive into his training. Remember the goal was never body recomposition but about enhancing his BJJ performance. We focused on exercises that directly support his grappling game. Think grip strength, core stability, shoulder power, and a boosted engine.

His workout isn't just about looking good; it's about feeling good on the mats and having more energy in his day to day life. And trust me, the results speak for themselves 🙌🏼

But we didn't stop there. We also tackled his cardio. With targeted workouts, we fine-tuned his endurance to help him roll longer and stronger.

As he’s always on the move with work we figured out the best eating options for his active lifestyle, so he never feels restricted. This can be tricky as there’s not too many clean on-the-go options in Gib but I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve 🤌🏼

This journey is far from over, but I couldn't be prouder of Ethan's progress. He's proof that with the right guidance, tailored plans, and a whole lot of determination, you can smash your fitness goals.

His recent body changes has spurred him on to get shredded so watch this space! With his work ethic it’ll be light work.

MY STORY:

Back then going to the beach or pool filled me with dread, I lacked the self esteem to take my shirt off. It was tough.

I really struggled to put on lean muscle.

Being naturally skinny made it an uphill battle.

You know, I was seemingly doing everything right. Training hard, eating well, following every workout plan and nutrition tip I found online. But despite all that effort, I just couldn’t put on the size I wanted. It was like I was stuck in this never-ending loop of frustration.

It took me years after started training to finally figure it out..

Here’s the secret I uncovered 📖

We’re all different.

What works for one person might not work for another. It’s not about following a random diet or workout plan you found online- it’s about factoring in your unique needs & goals.

I decided to join an online coaching program and the knowledge and guidance I gained from it was KEY to my transformation.

I learnt more in a few months than two years trying to figure it out myself, following generic advice online from roided up influencers 🤦🏻‍♂️

I started to finally see big changes. My weight grew, clothes fitted way better, was confident taking my top off. I finally felt good in my own skin.

Find what works, stick to it, put in the reps. The results will come.

Ironman Athlete Transformation🏃🏻‍♂️🚴

When first contacted me to jump on board, his goal sounded simple enough…put on more muscle and get back into shape after injury setbacks last year left him back to square one.

Easy right? Only one catch… he does iron man style training, so his running, swimming and cycling workouts consistently burns upwards of 800kcals per session 😳

That’s a whole lotta calories to not only replace but then add on so he’s in a surplus. Which is essential to muscle gain.

Not gonna lie I didn’t know it would be possible at first 😅 I knew it was a really rough fu***ng ask and he’ll need to eat a lot of food.

Like me he’s also a hard gainer so putting on muscle is difficult.

We put together a plan to gradually increase in food and use gainer smoothies to give him the nutrients he needed to know also recover well but put on muscle too.

We strategically planned out sessions to maximise his performances on the track, bike and in the water leaving him in prime condition to smash his next Iron man.

2 x short full body weight sessions directly focusing on the muscles to boost his endurance performances capped off a super successful lean bulk.

His work ethic, mentality and discipline is top notch.

Can’t wait to see him compete in the near future.

Real talk:

Many men suffer in silence because they’re too proud to ask for help.

I get it though. We like to think we can do everything.

But truth is, getting guidance isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of wanting to level up.

Trust me I’ve been there. Trying to do everything solo.

I don’t take anyone and everyone. Sometimes I encounter people I simply can’t help for one reason or another.

Some gym experience will be necessary to nail the correct form, so won’t take on guys who are completely new to the gym.

Midweek reminder: We all started somewhere.

remember I used to avoid going to the beach or pool at all costs.

All my friends would be out enjoying the sun and I’d be inside roasting, just to avoid showing my body.

The first photo is actually after about 6 months of weight training where I finally started to feel more confident about my body.

The reason I used that photo is because I have no body shots of me before that - why would I? I was embarrassed to go topless because of how skinny I was.

Once I started seeing physical changes to my physique my mindset changed completely. I was proud to show off my hard work and my confidence shot up.

Sure I always wished I was 10 steps ahead, but I also knew I was on track to hitting my goals and that the journey would give me so much purpose and confidence.

We all start somewhere…just fu***ng start.
