On a wet morning, turning to sunshine in the end (!), we held our annual shooting competition.

3 rounds by all, going through the 5 discipline’s of the precision shooting competition.

Reigning Champion Jalal Talbi lived up to expectations and scored 84 points taking top spot. Home player Carl Offer scored an impressive 50 points to take second sport whilst Bob Carter’s John Monk took home 3rd spot with 40 points.

Thank you to everyone who supported this free event kindly supported by Breckland Council. It helps to secure the infrastructure of the club for years to come.

It is with sadness that I write to let you all know that Derek 'Del' Switzer passed away peacefully at home this morning surrounded by his family.

Del was a founding member of the Garnier Petanque Club in Eccles, helping to create the piste in the early 90’s, even taking gravel from his Mothers driveway! His Petanque career started even earlier in the 80’s, but Eccles was his “home’. He encouraged everyone, and taught the newcomers. His passion for the game shone through right until the end.

Del only stopped playing when his health took a turn, and although he didn't play for the last 12 months, he always wanted to know how the teams were getting on.

It's also really fitting that our two teams, Les Garnier and G2 play each other this coming Thursday in the league where we can all raise a toast to Del, and his passion for Petanque.

RIP Del, you'll be missed.

Come and join us for our annual shooting competition! This year to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings!

With the generous help of Breckland District Council we are able to offer this competition with FREE ENTRY, so if you've thought about entering, or never given a shooting competition a try then this is the ideal opportunity.

We run two mats on the day, so the turnaround for each round is pretty quick (avg 5-7 minutes per round), so you can enjoy the surrounding, and cheer on your opposition whilst you wait your go.

Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd on offer too! - so bag yourself your first Trophy of the season!

Limited places, so secure your spot.

Are you ready to try something new?

Young, or old, abled or disabled Pentanque is a sport that discriminates no one.

The Garnier Pentanque Club has been in existence since the early 1990’s when various local members who had been playing the game across venues in South Norfolk settled on the home at Eccles Village Hall & Community in Eccles.

The lights and ‘piste’ (the playing surface) you see today were created and made by founding members, and materials supplied for free by the local community. A number of the founding members still play an active part in the club, either still playing or advising the club.

The club currently has two active teams competing in the Norfolk County Pentanque Association league (League season April - September). Les Garnier compete in Division 2, whilst G2 compete in Division 3.
Why not come along to a taster session on the last Friday of every month. Boules can be supplied, so there is no initial outlay.
