Dads Army 13th June.
Sensei Glen Frame 6th Dan, visited today, from West Sussex, to take the class.
Apart from the "to be expected" technical aspects, Sensei Glen was emphasising the need for long serving karateka to find their own natural way of movement, particularly when age or long term injury, precludes them from following "textbook methods".
It was very much a thinking persons lesson and much appreciated by the class.

2024 Rengokai Summer Course.
Many thanks to Kevin Sensei, visiting from Weston Super Mare for the great picture.
The course was organised on the usual "separate dojo" basis with the students in appropriate grade or age, etc basis best appropriate for the class objectives.
The course content included: Gojushiho Sho, Nijushiho and Jion Katas. With plenty of bunkai to reinforce the key points.

The Rengokai entry for the SKDUN World Championship in Greece. Last preparation class completed and ready to compete over the coming weekend.

Rokudan presentation.
Nicky Sanders 6th Dan, was presented with her Rokudan Diploma on Friday 21st April. Nicky Sensei is the Chief Instructor of the Locksheath Shotokan Karate Club and apart from her 41 years of experience and expertise in Shotokan karate, is also a student of Kobujutsu, in which she is 1st Kyu and additionally purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu .
The presentation coincided with a Rengokai Dan grading. Members from Forest Lyndhurst Karate Club, Eastleigh, Southampton & Fair Oak Shotokan Karate Club, Locksheath Shotokan Karate Club, Fort Purbrook, Waterlooville Shotokan Karate Club, Crookhorn, Bognor Regis and Portchester Karate Club, joined together for the grading.

Dads Army class.
Following on from the Wednesday class Saeid joined the "Dads Army"class on Thursday morning. Strictly speaking Saeid is no where near old enough to join this class. However special permission was granted.
Saeid took the class through the initial opening of Nijushi Ho and looked at possible bunkai situations.

Visit of a friend from days gone by. Saeid Maleki-raee 4th Dan of BRANTOME KARATE DO CLUB. Many will remember Saeid from his years of training at the Selsey, Pagham and Hayling Island clubs. (Apologies if I have missed any clubs). Those who knew Saeid will no doubt remember his friendly smile and nature before and after the lesson, yet training with the utmost correct attitude and effort.
By coincidence Mark Hawkins 4th Dan of Bournemouth Kanku Karate Club made his first visit following the disruptions of Covid.
