Sunshine, Serotonin & the Menopause Transition ☀️

The relationship between light, mood and hormones is more powerful than many people realise.💡

As we enjoy the sunshine, it’s worth highlighting the growing research around sunlight exposure, serotonin production and emotional wellbeing during perimenopause and menopause.

Vitamin D — often called the ‘sunshine vitamin’ — is primarily synthesised through moderate sun exposure and has been associated with cognitive, immune and emotional health.

Sunlight exposure also stimulates serotonin activity, a neurotransmitter involved in:
• Mood regulation
• Sleep-wake cycles
• Appetite
• Emotional resilience

Research suggests that reduced sunlight exposure may contribute to seasonal mood changes and depressive symptoms, while morning light exposure may positively influence circadian rhythm regulation and serotonin availability.

Interestingly, emerging evidence indicates the skin itself contains serotonergic pathways capable of responding directly to sunlight exposure — potentially helping explain the psychological benefits many people experience from outdoor activity and natural light.

For women navigating hormonal fluctuations during perimenopause, simple lifestyle interventions such as:
☀️ Morning daylight exposure
🚶‍♀️ Outdoor movement
💤 Sleep routine support
💡 Light therapy during darker months may provide meaningful wellbeing support alongside broader menopause care.

A timely reminder this week that evidence-based menopause support includes lifestyle, environment and mental wellbeing — not just hormones alone. ☀️

✨ Your pelvic floor matters more than you think ✨ “It’s the floor of your core.”
Everybody has one — not just women.

Your pelvic floor is a powerful group of muscles sitting at the base of your pelvis. It’s working for you all day, every day — supporting your organs, controlling your bladder and bowels, and even helping with spinal stability. You don’t have to think about it… but that doesn’t mean you should ignore it.

Here’s the reality:
• 1 in 3 women experience urinary incontinence
• 1 in 10 experience faecal incontinence (and it’s often underreported)
• Around 50% of women over 50 have some degree of pelvic organ prolapse

And yet… we rarely talk about it. Because let’s be honest — bladders and bowels aren’t exactly “dinner table” topics. But they should be.

💡 Pelvic floor dysfunction can impact confidence, social life, movement, and overall quality of life — but the good news?
👉 It’s often preventable
👉 It’s treatable
👉 And strengthening these muscles is just like any other form of training

⏱️ Consistency is key:
Aim for 10 contractions, 3 times a day — but don’t overcomplicate it. Tie it to daily habits like brushing your teeth or making a cup of tea ☕

💪 Like all strength training, results take time. Most people start noticing real benefits after around 3 months — so stick with it!

As a Menopause Movement trained coach, I’m here to:
✔️ Guide you through effective pelvic floor exercises
✔️ Help you understand what’s normal (and what’s not)
✔️ Support you in recognising when to seek medical advice
✔️ Connect you with trusted pelvic health specialists within our community

❤️ You don’t have to navigate this alone — and you definitely don’t have to stay silent

👉 If this resonates with you, reach out or drop me a message — let’s start the conversation

April 1st is known for tricks…
But menopause is no joke—and it often catches women completely off guard.

Women have to navigate changes they didn’t expect, symptoms they don’t always understand, in bodies that suddenly feel unfamiliar.

Here’s what I want you to know:
✨ Your experience is valid
✨ Your symptoms are real
✨ And no two menopause journeys are ever the same

From disrupted sleep and brain fog to joint pain, anxiety, and changes in strength or weight—these aren’t things you just have to “put up with.”

They’re signals. And with the right support, they can be understood and managed.

💬 “Menopause isn’t here to fool you — it’s asking you to listen, learn, and take your power back.”

This is your reminder to:
🌿 Get curious about your body
🌿 Seek guidance from qualified professionals
🌿 Prioritise your long-term health—your bones, heart, mind, and overall wellbeing

You don’t have to figure it out alone.
Support, knowledge, and strength are available to you.

That’s where I come in as a qualified Menopause Movement Coach and Personal Trainer - I’m trained to make menopause something we can manage as a team—not something that takes you by surprise.

💛✨

Menopause is a transformative phase, and while it can bring challenges—fatigue, joint pain, anxiety—it also opens the door to a new, empowering relationship with movement.

As a Menopause Movement trained coach and personal trainer, I’m here to help women feel strong, supported, and confident in their bodies again.

🧠 Understanding your experience
💬 Creating a safe, judgment-free space
🏋️‍♀️ Focusing on strength, mobility & energy—not just aesthetics
🌿 Adapting training to meet you where you are
🤝 Building a supportive community
🥐 No restrictions for food choices

Because fitness during menopause isn’t about pushing harder—it’s about training smarter, with compassion and purpose.

You’re not “losing yourself”—you’re evolving. And movement can be your anchor through it all.

💬 If you’ve been struggling to stay active or don’t know where to start, I’m here to help.

✨ PAUSE RETREAT ✨
An opportunity to slow down, switch off, and take some time for you.

We’ve created a relaxed, welcoming space for midlife women who simply need a few hours to breathe, move, and reset—without pressure, expectation, or a packed schedule.

You can dip in and out of:

• Gentle mobility, stretch and feel-good movement
• Sauna and cold therapy (if you fancy it!)
• Quiet time to relax and unwind
• Guided mindfulness and a connection circle
• Grounding moments and foot massages
• A glass of fizz and savoury snacks to enjoy

This isn’t about doing everything. It’s about doing what you need.

We’ll be there to guide, support and answer any questions around movement, menopause, and wellbeing—but only if you want it. No lectures, no overwhelm… just space to pause.

Come as you are. Leave feeling like yourself again.

Limited spaces available. Message us to book or find out more 💛
