You stroke your dog. They lean in, enjoy it, then immediately do a big full-body shake when you stop.

Cute, right? Like they’re resetting.

Actually — that’s exactly what they’re doing. That shake is a nervous system reset. A way of processing and releasing what just happened.

In massage it’s one of the things I actively watch for because it tells me the body received something and is responding to it.

You’ll also see it when a dog finishes a slightly overwhelming situation — after the vet, after meeting another dog, after a loud noise. It’s not random. It’s communication.

The more you know about how your dog processes and communicates, the better you can support them. And that’s exactly what Align is built on — understanding what they’re telling us. 🐾

The hindquarters are where equine performance lives.

Every upward transition. Every jump. Every lateral movement.

Every time your horse is asked to step under and carry — it starts here.

So when the hind end isn’t working the way it should, everything upstream is affected. The contact. The outline. The willingness. The way of going.

Common signs of hindquarter tension:

→ Short or uneven stride behind
→ Reluctance to engage or work through
→ Difficulty with lateral work
→ Bucking or tail swishing under saddle
→ Sensitivity or flinching when groomed over the rump

A lot of these get labelled as training issues. Sometimes they are.

But more often than not, there’s something physical underneath — and muscle tension in the gluteals and hamstrings is one of the first places I look.

📌 Save this for your next yard session. And if any of these sound familiar — you know where to find me. 🐴

Tense. Hard. Watchful.

That’s what a horse’s eye looks like when they’re holding something. Braced for whatever comes next. Not fully present, not fully safe.

And then the work starts. The hands slow down. The breath steadies. The muscle under your palm begins to give. And the eye changes. It softens at the edges. The lid droops, just slightly. The focus goes from sharp and outward to something quieter and inward.

That’s not something you can fake or manufacture. That’s a horse deciding they’re safe.

I think about this a lot — how much trust it takes for a prey animal to let their guard down completely. Even for an hour. Even with someone they know.

When they do, you feel it. Every single time. 🐴🤍

Most dogs won’t limp.

Most won’t cry.

Most won’t tell you.

Instead, they show us things like:

• Difficulty settling
• Reluctance to jump
• Changes in behaviour
• Excessive licking
• Stiffness after rest

Small signs matter.

What’s something your dog does that makes you wonder if they’re uncomfortable?

This work is never rushed.

Every animal is different.
Every animal tells a different story.
Every session is tailored to them. 🤍

Massage isn’t just a luxury for animals.
It can help with:

✨ stiffness
✨ recovery after exercise or surgery
✨ relaxation
✨ mobility
✨ comfort in older animals

A relaxed body helps create a happier animal. 🤎

They can’t tell us where it hurts in words…
but their body always speaks.
The soft sighs, the deep breaths, the relaxed posture — that’s trust, relief, and release. 🤍

That moment.

The lip drops. The eye softens. They turn their head slowly and just… look at you.

No words. No explanation needed.

This is the moment I work for. Not the booking, not the technique — this. The moment an animal decides you’re safe. That what you’re doing feels good. That they trust you enough to let go completely.

Every horse I work with is somebody’s everything. Getting to be the person they lean into — literally and figuratively — is something I’ll never stop being grateful for.

I love my job 🐴 ❤️

If your horse has never had a massage, this is what they’re missing. And if they have — you already know this feeling.

💬 Drop a 🤍 if your horse does The Lip Thing. I love knowing I’m not the only one obsessed with it.

“Your horse’s posture is talking. Here’s how to read it.”

Before I touch a single muscle, I watch. 👀🐴

A horse’s posture tells me almost everything I need to know before a session even begins. Here’s what I look for:

Head carriage — low and tense can mean poll or neck restriction
Hindquarter shift — resting one hind more than the other repeatedly can signal imbalance
Dropped back — a dipped topline often means long-standing back muscle tension
Weight distribution — a horse constantly shifting weight is often uncomfortable standing still

None of these alone means something is wrong. But together, they paint a picture.

💬 Next time you’re at the yard, take 60 seconds to just watch your horse stand. What do you notice?
