A series of short clips, doesn't give the full insight of an hour long practice...
The last clip is 1min 30secs of my warm up today. Feel free to try it as a warm up, or a mobility flow 🩷

All classes begin this week!
3 ways to join. Your Practice. Your Choice.

Benefit from practising with others who share similar mindsets.
Supported. Aligned. Mind, Body, Soul.

Following along to a series of short clips is good.

But the emotional, mental and physical benefits from joining regular classes, are incomparable.

Don't worry about starting where you are.
We must all start somewhere.
We have all been beginners.
We all know how hard it is to try.

All that really matters is your willingness to handle discomfort. In trying to do what you can.
Because a practice that doesn't challenge you, won't allow you to truly grow confidence in your capability.

To acknowledge and embrace life fully. The good, the bad, the ugly.

The practice mirrors life itself.
It's not about 'retreating' from life
But facing who you really are, when life is tough.
To find balance, focus, strength, and resilience.

Empowering you to live 'real' life with more clarity, peace, and happiness.

And ready for more of life's adventures ✨️

Thank you for being here πŸ™πŸΌ

Hi Yogis, just a quick update/reminder!

All regular classes resume from Tues Sept 1st at Hiltingbury Sports.

Tues 6.30pm Dynamic Flow
Wed 9.30am Align and Flow
Thurs 5.45pm Dynamic Flow

Meanwhile our summer outdoor sessions are ongoing this week and next.

Here's my yoga/travel/life partner and I, hanging around in Hanoi.
We dropped in to a lovely yoga studio and got a very much needed stretch.
It was relaxing and painful, but that good pain, you know that is doing good πŸ˜‰

See you all soon for some of that good pain 🀣

Gratitude is a Daily Practice πŸ™πŸΌ

1. Wildflowers blooming. Nature has a beautiful way of helping us to reflect, and remenber our blessings.
2. Looking across the field to a place of not just work, but a place of community. Of shared laughter, struggle, chaos and celebration.
3. The calm at the end of class. My absolute favourite Asana. A prayer of blessings.
4. Rolling up my mat for now, to enjoy time with family.

Thank you ❀️ xx

Wiiggling, fidgeting, is all valid, and needed movement ❀️

Dont't know how or where to start. Start here.

Let yourself breathe, wiggle, fidget, move, slow enough to feel.

If you begin by chasing the shape or the aesthetics, you've come out of the practice.

Strength is built from first allowing yourself space, to know yourself, to listen.

Some say Yoga doesn't make you Strong

No?

Shake those hips!

The hip are one of the most mobile joints in the body. These powerful joints along with the hip muscles and ligaments, enable fluid, agile movement. And importantly, support the stability of the spine.

A sore lower back, tight hamstrings, and or rigid movement, can be attributed to having stiff hips.

For every year over 40, (unless you have hypermobility) the body naturally gets stiffer with age.

Having a sedentary lifestyle, repetitive movement in sport, or compression through lifting heavy weights, further compounds the issues of stiffness.

And it doesn't get better without actively, and consisently moving the hips through all ranges of movement.

And it's hard work to maintain it. Yes even for me, a 50 year old yoga teacher πŸ™Š But moving well as I age, and for my students, is a non negotiable in remaining capable to enjoy life.

The lunge is better known for strengthening the lower body.
A dynamic yoga practice has variations that work on strengthening, flexibility and mobility, often all at the same time.

Lizard Lunge Pose is one of my favourite lunge variations to flow in and out of. This variation stretches the front hip externally, the back hip in extension. Stretches the shoulders with spinal rotation, engages the glute with back exension, and if that wasn't enough, stretches the quads with a hamstring curl.
It's alot. It's complex. I love it, and so do my students 🫠
Wherever you are in your practice, there is a variation for you. Even a flying arm balance variation.

P.s all my own words. I've never used chat gpt and never will. Can you tell? πŸ˜‚

Am I right, or am I right? 🀣

Sorry to my family and friends. I am trying to stop talking about yoga.

But

I just want the best for you.
And that is Yoga πŸ€—

Some say yoga isn't just asana.
They're right.
I say yoga isn't just theory πŸ’«

The hard work is in the practice.
The practice is meant to be felt πŸ™πŸΌ

πŸ’š

Prepare yourself. The 40's will be a rollercoaster of a decade.

Help to mitigate what you can't control, by doing what you can. No: 2-5.

And life gets worse before it gets better...

It can also feel lonely when you begin to put in place boundaries, for your well-being.

But at 50, you'll be so glad you didπŸ™πŸΌ

* I kind of like the grass long πŸ’š

** Who doesn't love a hammock? When I met my dear husband 24 years ago, he was sitting in the blue one.
