Low vitamin D can feel like tiredness, low mood, muscle weakness, getting run down more often, or just not quite feeling yourself π’
For women especially, it can also matter long term for bone health, hormones and healthy aging.
If you've been tested via a GP for example, Vitamin D could look low on paper, or you get good amounts of sunlight and take a supplement, but still feeling symptoms that could be related to an issue with vitamin D activation π€
Women in bigger bodies, may see lower levels, because it is fat-soluble and stored through fat, muscle, liver and blood. So sometimes lower levels can reflect dilution rather than true depletion.
Also, if magnesium stores are low, the body may struggle to properly activate and use it too.
Chicks, this time of year is ideal for vitamin D synthesis, thanks to more sunlight yay π βοΈ. Alongside, foods like oily fish, egg yolks and fortified foods, plus strength training for healthy bones, can all play a part.
But alongside this, focusing on composition shifts and understanding your nutrition needs is going to really help too π
