Low vitamin D can feel like tiredness, low mood, muscle weakness, getting run down more often, or just not quite feeling yourself 😒

For women especially, it can also matter long term for bone health, hormones and healthy aging.

If you've been tested via a GP for example, Vitamin D could look low on paper, or you get good amounts of sunlight and take a supplement, but still feeling symptoms that could be related to an issue with vitamin D activation πŸ€”

Women in bigger bodies, may see lower levels, because it is fat-soluble and stored through fat, muscle, liver and blood. So sometimes lower levels can reflect dilution rather than true depletion.

Also, if magnesium stores are low, the body may struggle to properly activate and use it too.

Chicks, this time of year is ideal for vitamin D synthesis, thanks to more sunlight yay πŸ™Œ β˜€οΈ. Alongside, foods like oily fish, egg yolks and fortified foods, plus strength training for healthy bones, can all play a part.

But alongside this, focusing on composition shifts and understanding your nutrition needs is going to really help too πŸ™Œ

Soooo many women come to us thinking they need more willpower, more motivation or another diet plan πŸ₯ΊπŸ€―

What they actually need is support. A place where exercise fits around real life and where health is about more than calories and weigh in's. A space where they're encouraged, educated and never judged πŸ’—

Because our philosophy has never been about helping women to get smaller. It's about helping women to become stronger, healthier and more confident πŸ’«

Reading that Ferda has moved away from all or nothing thinking, found balance with food and exercise, and even discovered a love for running makes us incredibly proud πŸ₯°

Thank you Mel & Aimee, they are both super consistent with their strength training back , but we love how that run training alongside it, is bringing some lovely cardio and energy benefits πŸ’ͺπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ”₯

Miles away, but they are still moving... πŸ™Œ

It might be holiday season, but our couch to 5K run club ladies haven’t missed a beat.

Trainers packed, they’ve been pounding pavements all over, from cruise ships in the Med to Budapest, Boston, Mallorca, and even some scenic staycations in the North West of the UK.

We absolutely love seeing them stick with their Couch to 5K journeys while soaking up new sights along the way.

And of course, we’ve kept a few Eastbourne faves in the mix, because, we’re pretty lucky to have such beautiful running backdrops right here in the Bourne πŸ₯°πŸ™Œ

Holidays are the perfect time to change things up, slow the pace, and move your body in ways that feel good, all while soaking up new environments and routines.

We’re big believers that rest matters too, so it’s all about finding that balance βš–οΈ, whether that’s a run with a view, a relaxed walk exploring somewhere new, or simply taking time to properly switch off πŸ˜ŒπŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Behind the scenes, we’re also working on some 'home away from home' workouts vids for our app (coming soon πŸ‘€), to help our Chicks keep moving while they’re away, however that looks for them.

Each run, step, plod, sweaty selfie is proof that if you just keep going, something that felt out of reach, intimidating or scary, can through a sustainable, collaborative approach, start to feel very different πŸ’—

We've been wanting to pull this together for a while, as we get asked a lot about protein, and are fed up with seeing such conflicting information, and women feeling persuaded into spending their precious pennies on trillions of protein products.

Protein supplements do have a place, especially for the busy woman, who is active or struggles to get it through their diet, but real food should always be the foundation Chicks πŸ’—

We might have to do a collagen post too soon, as it's another question we often get asked. Do we need collagen supplements, well.. that is definitely up for debate πŸ€”

Sunday - this is how we roll πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

It started with another epic Sunday Chick Couch to 5K run club and then back to ChickBox for a gorgeous and much needed stretch out and reconnect on the mat πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

A massive well done to all the ladies that just keep running, you are so inspiring, we missed those that couldn't make it, but those sweaty solo run selfies keep coming! πŸ’ͺ

A very special thank you to the lovely for treating us to a restorative yoga session, it was so lush and very much needed 😌

It was a great reminder in the value of taking the time to move slowly and reconnect with our inner wisdom πŸ’«

It's there Chicks, if we pause for just long enough to let it guide you πŸ’—
