Hello and welcome to my tai chi page. I began learning tai chi twenty years ago. As a child I'd suffered from a seriously debilitating anxiety condition, and it wasn't until my late teens that I realized just how much of a problem this was for me. My life seemed one long dark tunnel, so spurred on by a desperate need for change I did everything I could think of to move forwards; I read bo

oks, I had about eight years of conventional therapy, I attended personal-growth workshops, and starting tai chi was just another step on that long road back to self-empowerment. It went beyond my wildest imaginings. In so many ways tai chi became a balm for my troubled mind and the accompanying physical symptoms my body carried. It wasn't a quick fix, but gradually my shoulders softened, my migraines disappeared, and my mind began to find stillness. Spurred on by the huge changes I'd witnessed in myself and others I began training to teach. I feel so blessed that I can now share this ancient healing art with others.

Hugely looking forward to our next storytelling event 7.00pm 29th May at the Lighthouse Gallery, Cornfield Terrace. Both Suesie and I have stories to tell. The pieces I most love to share are those that depict the challenges I faced in overcoming mental health struggles, something that Tai Chi helped in huge ways. The story I'll be sharing speaks of the way my connection with the beauty and stillness of nature kept me on that path xx

DID YOU KNOW in some countries there are libraries where you can ′′ borrow ′′ a person, instead of a book, in order to sit and listen to their story.

Launched in Denmark this innovative and brilliant project is a bookstore of human beings. You can borrow a person for half an hour and hear their story. The initiative soon spread to other places, thanks to The Human Library.

The living library gives readers the opportunity to connect with people they would not usually have the opportunity of meeting. The initiative promotes dialogue, reduces prejudices, breaks stereotypes and promotes understanding between people of different ages, s*x, lifestyles and cultural background.

The organization is currently active in fifty countries and some libraries. Some are permanent such as those in South Korea and Tasmania, are permanent - while others are only temporarily set up.

Isn’t that a wonderful idea!
