So, final game of the season, Linden Park at home, 1 point to secure promotion, a win to guarantee the title, drum roll please…
Pev batted first and fought hard to see off the openers. Crucially we didn’t lose early wickets against the new ball and once the fielding started to tire, Rob and Ben did what they do together, ran hard and hit the bad ball, as both scored fifties. This set the platform for a ballistic Dallaway innings as he smashed the ball to all parts for 57* off only 32 balls and a rapid 56 run partnership with Lipa (19 off 16) that took the game away from Linden Park as Pev closed on 236-5.
Linden Parks response struggled early as quick, aggressive opening bursts from Ben (2-15) and Josh (3-12) left their innings in tatters. Josh plucked out stumps at will and Ben troubled the outside edge as nobody looked comfortable. Grand (54) gave the score some respectability with some long handle as Linden Park made it to 107 all out in what was a superb team performance from Pev. 30 points. Another title. Lovely jubbly.
Player of the Match - A bit of author bias here, but the Skipper, held the innings together against the good stuff, before opening up and setting the platform for the last innings fireworks. And took the game finishing catch!
