It's Robins pincushion season.

Look out for them growing on dog rose, caused by the larvae of a tiny gall wasp that feeds off the plant and changes its structure.

This is a perfect place for the larvae to develop over winter before they emerge as adults in the spring.

September tasks are underway with the wonderful South Downs Volunteers helping Rangers to cut and collect grass and scrub at the park entrance.

Although a busy visitor route, we manage this area to encourage species rich grassland.

More signs of autumn; when the Glassworts turn red, creating a vibrant carpet on the saltmarsh.

After the summer growing season, they turn red, then brown, producing vital winter food for our birds.

Commonly known as Marsh Samphire and seen on menus served with fish, a reminder that as a SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) foraging in Cuckmere Haven is not permitted.

Did you know that public footpaths use yellow markers and bridleways are blue?

If you're following the South Downs Way through Cuckmere Valley and across the Seven Sisters cliffs you'll follow the yellow markers on posts and gates.

None of our paths are designated as bridleways, so they're not suitable for cyclists or horseriders. You can cycle along the accessible path to the beach and there are great cycle routes through Friston Forest.

Check out Cuckmere Cycle Co. by the Visitor Centre for cycle hire and local routes to explore.

Despite the weather forecast we are expecting to be busy this Bank Holiday weekend.

Our car parks will fill quickly so if you are able, hopping on a Brighton Hove Buses Coaster or Cuckmere Buses bus takes the stress out of finding a parking space.

We want everyone to have a safe visit so remember to stay 5m away from the edge and base of the cliffs, check tide times and please, don't leave your litter.

Releasing balloons can pose a risk to wildlife and birds, which may mistake them for food and suffer serious health problems if they ingest them.
