FULL TIME

Having lost 4-1 against these same opponents only a couple weeks ago, we knew that today would be tough.

Despite that, we controlled the game for large periods and for the majority looked like we’d come away with all 3 points.

Plenty to improve on but we know what we need to do. Onwards and upwards now lads 🙌

4 key players have decided over the course of the past few weeks that they will be taking a gap year this season for various reasons.

George Hudson: Working every Sunday
Oli Hudson: Working every Sunday + running London marathon next year
Jake Asquith: Working every Sunday

They have all volunteered their spot in the squad to allow space to register new signings, and will all be returning next season.

Defeat against a side that have remained unbeaten the last 2 seasons, with ex pros lining up for them.

Some great football played, but ultimately work off the ball was the decider today. Experience is such a big part of the game and that was the difference.

Blues suffer defeat against a good Morton side.

Awful start and Morton were up 3-0 within 17 minutes. We then settled into the game and the game was end to end for the rest of the first half, with HUTCHINGS making some saves of real quality.

Second half started well, and the deadlock was broken with BANJO coming off the bench and scoring a curling effort from long range. CAWTHORN making it 2 assists in 2 games.

Both teams held their own in the second half, until a clearance that rebounded off a Babworth shirt nearby into the path of a Morton attacker meant a close range finish and 4-1.

Best of luck to Morton for the season ahead 🤝
