Massive congratulations to two of our Retford junior players. Both representing Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire in the inter county championship finals this weekend.

Lettie Anderson (pictured centre)

Captained the girls U13s against some very strong and experienced opponents.

Her first match of the day didn’t go the way she would have hoped, with the whole team being beaten convincingly, however, Lettie did what she does best, picked herself and her team mates up and fought to the end. Finishing the tournament with much more composed performances. She certainly did her coaches and our club proud. A star in the making.

George McQueen (pictured right) played in a strong boys U11s team. He also found the going tuff at first but fought back the emotions to come through with some well improved solid performances. His team came away with the bronze medal. 🥉

Lettie & George are two great examples of the group of kids we have down at Retford.

From the club and the coaches, thank you both for representing us so well.

The team made the short trip over to Grantham.
First up was Max, fresh from a weekend in Dublin, but his travels left him short of his best and he went down 3–0 to a strong opponent.

Andy, coming off a confident 3–0 win in the Links League, continued his good form with a hard-fought 3–2 victory.

Will and Mat both dug in well, each nicking a game, but ultimately falling to gritty 3–1 defeats.

That left our No.1 to finish the night. Despite a mixed bag of results this season, his quality shone through as he wrapped up a composed and classy 3–0 win.

A narrow loss for the boys overall, but the signs are good — they’re starting to click now. Watch this space.

County club tryouts for 4 of our Junior members this weekend.

This was a fab opportunity for them train with professionals and other juniors within the region in hopes to play in the Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire team 🤞

They all showed great skills, determination and attitude representing Retford Squash Club

Finished off with a fab exhibition match by Janna Galal and Jamie Brown
