🖤⚽ WHAT. A. COMEBACK! ⚽🖤

Rossington U13 Reds 2–5 Retford United U13 Blacks

Well, what a way to start the new season! 🔥

As managers, we honestly couldn’t be prouder of the lads today.

The first half was one we’ll probably want to forget 😂. We looked nervous, sat too deep and just couldn’t get going. Rossington took advantage and went into half-time 2–0 up.

But we told the lads at half-time that the game was still there for us if we showed a bit of belief, worked for each other and played the football we know we’re capable of.

And what happened in that second half was brilliant! 👏

A change to a back three gave us more stability, with Joseph organising things at the back, and suddenly we looked like a completely different team.

⚽ 2–1 — REECE

Two minutes into the second half, Reece gets us back into it, with Tegan providing the assist.

⚽ 2–2 — REECE AGAIN!

Just two minutes later, Reece strikes again, this time with Austin providing the assist.

2–0 down to 2–2 in four minutes! 🔥

Then came one of the moments of the game…

🕷️ JOSEPH’S SPIDER-MAN MOMENT! 🕷️

Max makes another brilliant save, but the rebound falls to Rossington and it looks certain to go in.

Then Joseph throws himself across the line and somehow keeps it out with his knee! 😱

What a clearance! What a way to make your debut! 😂👏

⚽ 3–2 — DAVID

We kept pushing and won a free-kick on the right. Tegan delivers the ball into the box, and after the resulting play, David finishes to put us ahead!

⚽ 4–2 — DAVID

Another free-kick, just outside the D…

We told David to hit it with his laces.

And WOW! 🚀

Absolutely smashed into the back of the net!

⚽ 5–2 — REECE

And then the icing on the cake…

A brilliant team move — Joseph ➡️ Tegan ➡️ Reece — and Reece calmly chips the goalkeeper to complete his hat-trick! 🎩⚽

⭐ JOINT MEN OF THE MATCH ⭐

🧤 MAX — absolutely outstanding today. His saves in the first half kept us in the game when we were struggling, and without him it could have been a very different scoreline.

⚽ REECE — a hat-trick in the opening game of the season! Enough said really! 😂🔥

We couldn’t separate them, so it’s Joint Man of the Match for both.

Today was also the first game for our two new lads, Joseph and Elliott. 🖤

Joining a new team isn’t always easy, especially when you’re thrown straight into your first competitive game, but both lads settled in really well.

Joseph certainly made sure we remembered his debut! 😂🕷️

🖤 BUT THIS WAS A TEAM WIN 🖤

As managers, we could talk all day about the individual performances today.

Max’s saves.

Reece’s hat-trick.

David’s two goals.

Tegan’s three assists.

Austin’s assist.

Joseph’s unbelievable clearance.

But this was a win for the whole team.

Every single player played their part.

We were 2–0 down, struggling and looking nervous.

But nobody gave up.

The lads listened at half-time, believed in themselves and came out in that second half and fought for each other.

That’s what makes us proud.

Football isn’t always going to go your way. There will be difficult games, bad halves and days when things don’t click.

But if we stick together, work for each other and never give up, we’ll always give ourselves a chance.

2–0 down at half-time… 5–2 winners at full-time.

What a response. 🖤🔥

Match report – Retford United U9s Blacks
The under-nines got their season underway with a promising first outing, a new shape, and plenty of character.
After usually lining up with one defender and three up front, the boys tried something different this time: more of a two-and-two. They took to it straight away. They doubled up in defence when it mattered and worked in pairs going forward, which made a real difference.
That teamwork helped the boys get on the front foot early, and they were first to score. They kept attacking after that, but the other side wouldn’t go away. They grew into the game, found an equaliser, and it turned into a proper battle.
What stood out was the boys’ persistence. Fantastic long passes kept pinning the opposition back and the ball spent a lot of time in their half. Even when it got tight, they stuck to the new shape and kept the pressure on.
Player of the match was George for a fantastic all-round display. He received the ball really well from those long passes and found the net.
Parents’ player of the match was Billy for an outstanding performance at the back. He held the line superbly and picked out some excellent passes through and over the opposition.
A strong first outing. Plenty to build on.

Good Evening, Mini Badgers! ⚽️

Just a quick message to let everyone know that we have reached that time of year again when we move all our players up into their correct year groups.

Just a reminder that our Friday Night Football sessions are for ages 4–14 only:

⚽ 6:00–7:00pm – Nursery to Year 4 (4–9 years old)
⚽ 7:00–8:00pm – Year 5 to Year 9 (10–14 years old)

These new groups will start this Friday.

If you have any questions or issues regarding the new groups, please speak to one of the Friday Night Football team, who will be more than happy to help.

⚽️ A Fantastic Experience for Our Brand-New U9 Whites! 🤍

Our brand-new Under 9 Whites were invited to be mascots at the Retford United vs Retford FC Derby on Saturday, and what an amazing experience it was! 🙌

The boys absolutely loved every minute of it, from walking out with the teams to getting the opportunity to meet the players and experience a proper matchday atmosphere. ⚽️👏

It was a brilliant experience for them, and we’re so pleased they had the chance to be part of such a special occasion.

A huge thank you to Retford United FC for the invitation and for making the day so memorable for our U9 Whites! 🤍⚽️

A First League Game to Remember! ⚽🦡

Retford United Juniors U9 Whites

What a way to begin!

Just five weeks ago, this group of players had never even been a team. Having only met each other a matter of weeks ago, the boys have been put through their paces in training ever since, building friendships, learning to play together and preparing for their first taste of competitive football.

And when that first league game finally arrived, they certainly didn't disappoint!

From minute one, the Badgers looked like they had been playing together for years. The boys pressed with purpose, battled for every ball and, when possession was lost, worked tirelessly to win it straight back.

It took less than ten minutes to get off the mark.

Little midfielder Louie C picked up the ball and unleashed a strike that rippled the back of the net, sending the parents on the sidelines into absolute delirium! A dream start for the boys.

The opposition weren't about to lie down, though, and they battled hard to find an equaliser. For such an inexperienced young side, conceding could easily have knocked their confidence — but not these boys.

They simply carried on.

Adam picked the ball up out wide, accelerated down the wing, cut inside and drilled a fantastic finish into the bottom corner to restore the Badgers' lead.

Moments later, danger mounted at the other end, but standing firm was the rock at the back, Harley. Calm, composed and determined, Harley produced a series of important interventions to steady the ship and keep the team moving forward.

Then came the magic in midfield…

The two silky operators, Louie S and Luan, began weaving their way through the defence, causing problems every time they got on the ball. Both players went on to grab a brace each, putting the game firmly in the Badgers' hands!!

Opposition managed to claw another goal back, despite some wonderful saves from Vincent earlier in the game, but Retford refused to let their heads drop.

At the back, Harley continued to marshal everything that came his way, putting in a superb Player of the Match performance before eventually making way for Aaron, who stepped in and took the reins with another strong showing.

With the clock ticking down, there was still time for one more moment of brilliance. Josh won the ball in midfield and released Ethan, who embarked on a mazy run, driving forward and creating space before the ball eventually found its way out to Louie C. The midfielder made no mistake, finishing expertly to grab his second goal of the game and put the perfect seal on a remarkable afternoon.

Goals galore. A Player of the Match performance. Plenty of outstanding individual moments. But most importantly, every single player played their part.

Five weeks ago, these boys were strangers. On Sunday, they stood together as a team and played superbly.

What a start to the journey.

Well done, Badgers. 🦡💙

Dearne and District u14's Blue vs Retford UTD Whites u14's

Retford UTD Whites stepped on to the pitch for the first time this season with a ten man squad, spirits were high despite the tough task ahead of them, the opposition came with a full squad and a full bench.

Dearne and District set the tone before too long scoring the first goal of the game, but the Whites showed them their grit with a return shortly after bringing the score to 1:1 with a comment from their manager who didn't realise we were 10 men, the Whites showed true resilience and battled for every ball, All the way through the first half.

The second half saw an injury to our striker which slowed the pace, he persevered but succumbed to his dead leg ten minutes into the half. The tough decision was made to bring him off reducing the number to 8 outfield players, despite best efforts Dearne and District U14's Blue exploited the gaps and managed to get another 4 goals before the whistle blew for full time. Retford Whites were defeated by score but not spirit as they look towards their next fixture on home turf.
