We're All In for Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games!

Caledonia Gladiators recently welcomed six local primary schools to Playsport for two Commonwealth Challenge events - a celebration not only of basketball, but of community, opportunity, and the exciting journey towards the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Delivered in collaboration with Basketball Scotland and FIBA Hoops for Schools, the first session brought together pupils and staff for an energetic programme of basketball skills and mini 3x3 games. They then returned to Playsport Scotland to represent Commonwealth nations, in their own mini 3x3 Commonwealth Games competition a few weeks later.

More than just a basketball event, the Caledonia Commonwealth Challenge reflected what it truly means for Caledonia Gladiators to be “All In” for Glasgow 2026. By engaging local schools and creating meaningful experiences for young people, we're building a lasting legacy that stretches far beyond the court.

These events were about giving children the confidence to participate, learn about other cultures and dream big - values that sit at the heart of both the Commonwealth Games and the Gladiators community.

Four years ago, we played on rented courts in front of 25 people. Today, more than 1,200 fans bring our arena to life for both our men and women.

Together, we’ve built something special – and this is only the beginning. As we continue building a basketball nation in Scotland, we believe live basketball should be accessible to more people, more often.

That’s why we’re introducing a new Season Ticket pricing structure – designed to make attending games easier for families and supporters across the country, while creating an even bigger atmosphere inside our arena.

This isn’t about lowering ambition. It’s about raising it. More fans. More noise. Bigger nights. Bigger ambition. We believe 2026-27 can be a special season for both our men’s and women’s teams. A season where we push higher, dream bigger, and rise together as one club.

Club Announcement: We are delighted to announce that Donnie MacDonald has been appointed Head Coach of our Women's Team with immediate effect.

Donnie, who has been with the club since 2022, has been heavily involved in the women’s team, particularly within his role as Assistant Coach during the 2024-25 season when Caledonia Gladiators made history for Scottish Basketball as the first women’s team to secure silverware.

Following his role as Assistant Coach, Donnie has led the development of Caledonia Blues, Caledonia Gladiators’ development team, providing young Scottish players the pathway they need to develop to pro.

With over 20 years’ experience across national team coaching, player development, high-performance and Commonwealth Games basketball, it only takes a glance at his CV or a five minute conversation to understand Donnie’s deep-rooted commitment to driving women’s basketball forward in Scotland.

Announcement: Chantelle Handy to step away from coaching.

Over the past two and a half seasons, Head Coach Chantelle Handy has led our women’s team to historic success, helping take the Gladiators Women to new heights both on and off the court.

First joining the club as a player / assistant coach during the inaugural professional season in 2022, Chantelle quickly became an integral part of the organisation. After a season and a half, Chantelle was promoted to Head Coach, a role she has thrived in for the last two and a half seasons. Under her leadership, the team brought silverware back to the club with the 2024/25 Trophy win, reached two finals this season, and secured a second-place league finish – landmark achievements for Scottish basketball.

We thank Chantelle for her passion, dedication, and impact on the club, and we wish her every success in the future.
