EKFC Blues 2010 have hung up the boots!!
It is with absolute sorrow to say that EKFC Blues 2010 have disbanded.
We will start with the negatives which are a plenty but we will surmise.
It only takes 2 or 3 to cause panic, discomfort or trouble in any walk of life. We might never know why but we have an idea. A football team is no different. It only came to light recently when the commitee and some parents compared notes to realise what had been happening. Most parents have agreed that if only we had discovered this earlier then it may not have come to this.
The only ones that it impacted was the boys.
To the people or person making and hiding behind fake profiles to have a cowardly pop or the ones laughing at posts because of our demise, well you are grown adults, no more needs said.
Finally, to a club who publish codes of conduct and values that are as worthless as the paper it's written on, you have let yourself down but this seems to be a regular thing. We met you last week where the meeting was minuted, only for a different story to be relayed by the club a few days later.
On to the positives.
We started at 11s in division 3 and were promoted in the first season. The second season seen us thinking we will enjoy it and see how we get on, so to win the league was an amazing achievement. One that perhaps the parent club could have recognised. The thing is, those who did this can take our team away but not our memories. We take comfort that every single boy involved will have a memory to last for a lifetime and perhaps a season they may never replicate.
Our support from parents (most of them), sponsors, families and friends has been fantastic. I mean, one game in the title run in had a couple hundred at Kpark which may have even exceeded the home support for the first team at some games.
Special thanks to Pepe's, McQueens and McNeils for your sponsorship. We only hope we made you proud.
Finally, on to who it is all about, the boys.
What a bunch both on and off the park. It has been a pleasure to develop these boys both on the park and hopefully positively influence them as they become young men. To think of some of the players who joined quite raw and see how they are playing now is really pleasing.
These boys trusted what we wanted to achieve. Every week we would remind them just how much we believed in them, the message was always that if you give your all then you can beat anybody. To then go all year with only 1 league defeat was special.
All is not lost as we do keep in touch with the boys who are now developing at other clubs. Plus some of us took in a game on Friday where it featured about 10 or 11 ex Blues players. It was heart warming to see them happy and continuing to bond.
All the best and goodbye.
