🐾 In loving memory of Yogi Bear 🐾
2014-2026 💔
“Small in size, Unforgettable in every way.”
Yogi was as sassy as he was determined, with a personality that filled every room, agility ring and flyball lane he entered.
Yogi came into her life, when Chloe was 10, and from the moment they met, there was never any doubt that they belonged together, he claimed all her shoes, her bed, and most importantly her heart.
Theirs was the sort of bond that didn’t need explaining, anyone who knew them could see it. Chloe was always there for Yogi, and he was never far from her side. 💕
They grew up together, learned together, travelled together and faced every adventure side by side, through childhood, through adulthood, competitions, laughter and challenges, they were a team in every sense of the word.
Whether they were training or racing in flyball, Chloe and Yogi made everything looked effortless, they worked together with such trust, understanding and connection and even made the most difficult skills appear easy.
Watching them together was something special and their love for dog sports inspired many people around them.
Their love and connection showed in everything they did together, during agility, Yogi certainly held Chloe to his own very high standards and if she appeared to be in the wrong place and they made a mistake he wouldn’t hesitate to turn around and give her a bark as if to say “sort yourself out mum” 😂
He bought that same fiery spirit into the flyball lanes, for years whenever teammate Bracken and him crossed, Bracken would bark at him, Yogi tolerated it……. until one day he clearly decided enough was enough and barks right back in her face - Bracken never did it again!
Even retirement didn’t slow him down, 1 year whilst camping at the UKFL Flyball championships, the team found themselves a dog short so Yogi was called out of retirement to race once more. He was so excited to be back doing what he loved that the team broke out 3 times in the first 10 minutes, seeing Yogi so excited to be back doing what he loved made those breakouts worth every second and the rest of the team were very forgiving. 🥴
Yogi lived life entirely on his own terms, he was full of character, sass and never afraid to make his opinions known. He made us laugh, kept us on our toes, and somehow managed to charm his way into the hearts of everyone who knew him.❤️
Without ever knowing it, Yogi helped create something that would outlive him - through Norfolk Flyball Club. Chloe and Yogi discovered a sport that became such a huge part of their lives, their enthusiasm was infectious, their partnership inspired others and their love of flyball planted a seed that would eventually grow into Fireflies Flyball Club.
Fireflies simply would not exist today without Chloe and Yogi!
The friendship, memories, teams and dogs that make up the club today can all be traced back, in some small way, to a little ginger dog and a girl who adored him.
On Sunday, when it was finally time to let him go, Chloe was there to advocate for him 1 last time, just as she had throughout his whole life. 🥰
As we look back on all the memories Yogi leaves behind, we’re reminded that the tears come hand in hand with gratitude, we were incredibly lucky to have known him, loved him, laughed at his antics, cheered him on and watched him live life to the full.
Yogi is reunited with teammates Luna and Jess and it’s comforting to imagine them lining up in the lanes once more.
Run free Yogi Bear.🐾
Thank you for every race, every bark, every laugh and every paw print you left on our hearts.💕
