Today we had a Team gathering to finish off our final season together “The Final Hoorah”
A great day out at Xtreme Karting where Oscar S won the Karting and Arran as runner up, and Louis completing the podium with third place.

We followed up the rush of adrenaline of Karting with our final Awards ceremony.

I would Just like to again thank all the Players who made up East Calder United, it was an absolute joy to coach them all and the team as a group will be sadly missed.
Roy and Mark also, who were always by my side at training and games helping build such a great wee team.

Thank you to all the Parents, Grand Parents and Fans for supporting us. We have had some good laughs and tears through the years.

We have all been looking to the future beyond East Calder United.
We have some players giving up, we have players moving on to other teams, we still have players unsure…

Some players committed to following Head coach to Vale of Leithen FC U20’s
Whom are still recruiting for Pre Season Trials.

VALE OF LEITHEN U20s – FINAL CALL

We are now asking any players interested in joining our new Vale of Leithen U20s squad to complete the form below.

Our first training/trial sessions will take place on:

Monday 25th May
Wednesday 27th May
Friday 29th May

Training will run for a couple of weeks initially, giving players the chance to come in, meet the coaches, and be assessed. After that, we will have a short break before returning for full pre-season.

We have had a fantastic level of interest already, so this is the final opportunity for players to register their interest and be part of the process.

Our last league game of the season was a trip down to
Galashiels for an earlier kick off than usual also.
Not only that we had a depleted squad due to Injuries & illness.
But the remaining lads were told to just have a kick about. Try not extend the injury list with the upcoming final fast approaching. This game meant nothing as we had already secured 2nd place in the league. This again was evident afterwards in the changing rooms as not often we can have a laugh after getting beat, let alone the score line yesterday.
But in fairness to Gala, you can clearly see they have a very good team and even at full strength we will have a very competitive game ahead. Well done today.

We got off to a terrible start and let Gala play far too much, we had numerous defensive errors and struggled with the fast start by Gala. We found ourselves 3-0 down in first 10 mins before Galas first decent goal on 14 mins.
Carson had a slight injury to his knee but wanted to stay on this in hindsight was the wrong choice and in the second half done more damage and had to go to A&E and will now miss the final and a good few weeks afterwards.
We also had Lewis come off with a sore back thus taking us down to 10 men and another on the ever growing injury list .
no Goalie, no strikers, down to 10 men etc etc
We did get 1 consolation goal yesterday from a great shot by Kyle.
The Final score was a 9-1 defeat but we know it will be different in the final.

Our MOTM goes to Oscar Simmons for another battling display. Well done.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Semi Final day
With Bonnyrigg Rose Dundas visiting East Calder Park.
We have had 2 previous close games this season as they certainly raise it for us.
Today no different as they chased and closed us down quickly and against the run of play went 1-0 on up on 11’ . A long shot that dipped below the crossbar.
They then extended the lead to 2 when scoring on the 29’ min.
Strong play by the 14.
Half time we changed formation and started using subs.
We controlled much of the second half and eventually got our first goal on 51st’ from a cross🤔Shot by Lewis sneaked in over the Keeper (the Bonnyrigg best player today) and the equaliser free kick come from Jayden on 72’.

We tried to finish the game before the final whistle but the Bonnyrigg team battled to the end. And the keeper again had a couple of great saves to keep us out.
Penalties would decide this game.
Which could have went either way but a double save from Carson made us the eventual winners in a dramatic and nervy game.

Well done to Bonnyrigg and sorry to you guys, it’s never nice to lose this way.

But our lads have still got a chance ti get something from another great season. As we head to the David Murray Cup Final 🟡⚫️🎉

Todays MOTM goes to Carson for his double saves at the end 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
But well done to the whole team for a much stronger and better second half performance.
