We have all been looking to the future beyond East Calder United.
We have some players giving up, we have players moving on to other teams, we still have players unsure…

Some players committed to following Head coach to Vale of Leithen FC U20’s
Whom are still recruiting for Pre Season Trials.

VALE OF LEITHEN U20s – FINAL CALL

We are now asking any players interested in joining our new Vale of Leithen U20s squad to complete the form below.

Our first training/trial sessions will take place on:

Monday 25th May
Wednesday 27th May
Friday 29th May

Training will run for a couple of weeks initially, giving players the chance to come in, meet the coaches, and be assessed. After that, we will have a short break before returning for full pre-season.

We have had a fantastic level of interest already, so this is the final opportunity for players to register their interest and be part of the process.

Our last league game of the season was a trip down to
Galashiels for an earlier kick off than usual also.
Not only that we had a depleted squad due to Injuries & illness.
But the remaining lads were told to just have a kick about. Try not extend the injury list with the upcoming final fast approaching. This game meant nothing as we had already secured 2nd place in the league. This again was evident afterwards in the changing rooms as not often we can have a laugh after getting beat, let alone the score line yesterday.
But in fairness to Gala, you can clearly see they have a very good team and even at full strength we will have a very competitive game ahead. Well done today.

We got off to a terrible start and let Gala play far too much, we had numerous defensive errors and struggled with the fast start by Gala. We found ourselves 3-0 down in first 10 mins before Galas first decent goal on 14 mins.
Carson had a slight injury to his knee but wanted to stay on this in hindsight was the wrong choice and in the second half done more damage and had to go to A&E and will now miss the final and a good few weeks afterwards.
We also had Lewis come off with a sore back thus taking us down to 10 men and another on the ever growing injury list .
no Goalie, no strikers, down to 10 men etc etc
We did get 1 consolation goal yesterday from a great shot by Kyle.
The Final score was a 9-1 defeat but we know it will be different in the final.

Our MOTM goes to Oscar Simmons for another battling display. Well done.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Semi Final day
With Bonnyrigg Rose Dundas visiting East Calder Park.
We have had 2 previous close games this season as they certainly raise it for us.
Today no different as they chased and closed us down quickly and against the run of play went 1-0 on up on 11’ . A long shot that dipped below the crossbar.
They then extended the lead to 2 when scoring on the 29’ min.
Strong play by the 14.
Half time we changed formation and started using subs.
We controlled much of the second half and eventually got our first goal on 51st’ from a cross🤔Shot by Lewis sneaked in over the Keeper (the Bonnyrigg best player today) and the equaliser free kick come from Jayden on 72’.

We tried to finish the game before the final whistle but the Bonnyrigg team battled to the end. And the keeper again had a couple of great saves to keep us out.
Penalties would decide this game.
Which could have went either way but a double save from Carson made us the eventual winners in a dramatic and nervy game.

Well done to Bonnyrigg and sorry to you guys, it’s never nice to lose this way.

But our lads have still got a chance ti get something from another great season. As we head to the David Murray Cup Final 🟡⚫️🎉

Todays MOTM goes to Carson for his double saves at the end 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
But well done to the whole team for a much stronger and better second half performance.

Our Last ever Home fixture 😢 it’s a Semi Final in the David Murray Cup.

Today we had a Home game
(Been a while)
And it was Tranent fc Blacks who visited.
After last week’s poor game we needed to up our game so that we can finish our last season strongly.
Today we pretty much commanded the game but it took a while for us to find the net.
It did however come from a rocket shot by Lewis (ast by Kyle.) on 39th min.
Second half we started where we left off, but we instructed that shots had to be better.

The remaining Goals came from
57’ 2-0 Archie ast by Arran
71’ 3-0 Brendan (another cracking goal)
79’ 4-0 Simmy
88’ 5-0 Gibby ast by Kyle.

It ended with a decent scoreline that could have been more and a clean sheet also.
A good team performance to set us up for the remaining few games.

Best of luck to the Tranent team and whatever paths they take going forward.
And a thank you to the parent who praised our team, very much appreciated.

Today Dalkeith secured the title, so well done to them 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 we have had 4 good games against them this season with a share of victories with 2 each.

Our victory today makes sure we finish second, which is a great position and a follow up from last season. And we are still involved in the David Murray Cup.

Let’s keep it going lads well done today 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

MOTM votes have gone to Archie today for a good performance in the back line helping us to a clean sheet and also getting on the scoresheet

Away to Edinburgh South Phoenix today.
Wasn’t what we expected today.
Some will blame the bumpy small park, some the wind, but ultimately both teams have to play in exactly the same conditions.
Maybe actions on an evening before a game could be an excuse 🤔
Did the our players underestimate the opposition due to league positions🤔
All of the above l am sure could have a part to play in our result today But really the difference between the teams came from Edinburgh South Phoenix who wanted and won most battles on the park today, they wanted the game more than us and chased and harassed us.
Commitment and Complacency I would blame for today’s poor performance.

Well done to Edi Sth Phoenix though for bringing a good challenge to us. Even with them playing with 10 men the second half. You wouldn’t have thought it 👍🏻
We did however command the later stages of the game as we hunted for a late winner. But too little too late. So a share of the spoils it was.

On hindsight though we did have 16 half decent chances to score today, (more than double our opponents)

Both Goals today were both scored by Edinburgh South Phoenix with ours being an OG at the near post.

Our MOTM award goes to probably the 3 that deserve it most today.
Oskar, Arran and Carson. Well done lads 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

But overall it should go to The Edi Keeper 👏🏻 who had numerous good saves and a penalty save to keep us out.
Well done to Edinburgh South Phoenix, best of luck in the remaining few games and to the players in whatever route they follow after the season ends.

We still have a Semi Final to win and still a chance of some silverware, so we buckle down and learn from today.
We now know that our semi final opponents are Bonnyrigg.

On another note Areeb has decided to leave the team this evening, please wish him well in whatever team he moves to.

Hi all

We regret to inform all our family, friends and fans that this will be the last season of East Calder United’s journey. We had planned to continue into U19’s but with players and coaches moving on to different things and new opportunities the task of a pre season rebuild would be too big to complete.

It has been an amazing 5 years in charge, where we have seen the team progress from the bottom of the West Lothian leagues to Seryfa Div 3 champs and 2 cup finals and it isn’t over yet…We still have an outside chance for back to back league titles with us still currently leading Div 2 and also a chance of another cup final in the horizon.
We have a possible 5 games left, it would be an amazing finish to our journey to keep our winning ways going to the end of the season.

Thank you to all that have been involved with the team, whether as a Player, Coach or Parent who have all contributed to our journey.
A huge thank you to our Club East Calder CFC for supporting and Helping us over the years. Such an amazing club to be a part off and a credit to West Lothian grassroots football, one day I’m sure many of the team will return as future coaches etc.

It’s maybe the end for this current team but many players will continue in U20’s football and some will follow myself in a new journey also. an announcement to be made very soon.
I’m sure whatever new journey we all take, we will always remember our times at East Calder United 2008’s.
