Crofton Juniors - 3
Tingley Stripes - 6

There was no league game this week, as the girls had a drawn Crofton, away, in the second round of the plate.

The start of the first half saw a slightly sleepy Tingley, lacking that little bit of powerful bulishness that they have shown in recent weeks. The opposition taking the lead with a goal early on. 1-0.
A great chip over the keeper by Liv levelled the score, with defenders bearing down on her and the keeper to beat. 1-1.
A lack of urgency in the box as the opposition attacked led to the ball not being cleared and the Crofton taking advantage of the situation. 2-1.
At this point, the girls woke up fully. Now, pressing and working for each other with comms. Niamh put the pressure on. Won the ball back in the Crofton half. An immediate ball through to Liv who dutifully dispatched the ball into the back of the net. 2-2.
Another great finish from Liv gave the team their 3rd goal and Liv's hat-trick before half time.
2-3 at half time.

The second half gave the opportunity for the Stripes to extend their lead. The team was now playing fast-moving football and in places one touch football that stretched the Crofton defence. Liv got the opportunity to score her fourth goal, which she didn't let slip. Another wonderful, calm finish. 2-4.
The girls were breaking forwards down the wing constantly and getting crosses into the box. This stretched the defence and goalkeeper. On one occasion, great running from Laila , saw her link onto a cross, smashing it into the net. 2-5.
The opposition really tried to get back into the game. This just wasn't one way football. One attack saw them drag a goal back with a looping finish into the far corner of the goal. 3-5.
Another Tingley breakaway down the wing saw a great throughball played in with Niamh and Laila perfectly staying on side. The ball was controlled by Laila, which she slotted inch perfectly into the side of the goal by the far post, Niamh perfectly placed if it rebounded off the post but the assist was not needed on this occasion.

Final Score.
Crofton - 3
Tingley - 6.

Ryburn United - 3
Tingley Stripes - 4

The fifth league game of the season gave the Stripey Army another away game. This time over to Sowerby Bridge to play one of the stronger teams in the division Ryburn Utd.
With all 15 players available for this game, we had options available to us knowing this game was going to be tough.

The game kicked off, and as expected, you could tell the opposition were strong, but we gained the upper hand physically and possession wise. Good communication, passing, and moving gave Liv the opportunity to open the scoring. One on one with the keeper, she despatched the ball into the back of the net. 0-1.
Throughout the whole of the match, each team had their time to control the game, which ebbed and flowed as time went on. This was the time for Tingley, who had really stepped up as individuals and as a team. The passing and moving was cleaner, the communication was louder, and everything Tingley was doing was just slightly sharper and crisper than the opposition. This led to Liv getting a second goal with another strong finish from some beautiful support work from Niamh. 0-2.
Ryburn managed to come back into the game before the half-time break to score a goal. 1-2 at half time.

The 2nd half continued the same as the first. Good battles across the pitch, no backing out and strong, firm tackles. Strong momentum forwards across the pitch saw Ella size the opportunity to smash the ball into the net from the edge of the area. 1-3.
The opposition now coming back more and more into the game had a wild attempt from distance that scooped and looped into the air, and luckily (for them) dropped down between the crossbar and Dara's hand. Impossible for Dara to save and impossibly lucky from the Ryburn player. 2-3.
Everyone was giving everything to the cause. All our defenders and goalkeeper putting their bodies on the line. The midfield the same. The wingers trying mazy runs, turning when receiving the ball and taking players on is a real step on and getting shots away is now a standard. All of this now being done with comms. Liv despatching her 3rd goal and the teams fourth from some good strong team work. 2-4.
The last 10 -15 minutes were hard work for the Tingley girls. The opposition really trying to get those goals back. Everyone stood up and was counted. Tackles, saves, clearances, breakaways. The opposition did manage to pull a goal back but ran out of time as the final whistle blew.

Final Score.
Ryburn United - 3
Tingley Stripes - 4

Opposition Player Of The Match - Liv
Parents Player Of The Match - Dara
Coaches Player Of The Match - Scarlet.
