9 athletes.
75 MEDALS!!! 🥇🥈🥉
And 34 OF THEM ARE GOLD!!! 🤯😍

We honestly CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!!

What an incredible few days our athletes have had. They have absolutely SMASHED IT and we could not be any prouder! ❤️

A very special mention to our National Rhythmic Champions 👑✨
🥇 Ruth
🥇 Ffion
🥇 Lola
🥇 Ellie Bea
And our National Artistic Champions 👑✨
🥇 Lee
🥇 Tayla
🥇 Ffion
🥇 Emily
🥇 Ellie Bea

And a MASSIVE well done to Evie, Lola, Emily, Tayla and Ffion on competing in their VERY FIRST National Games! ❤️

What an incredible achievement and what a way to make your National Games debut! 🌟

Let's not forget… these incredible athletes have been competing in TWO disciplines — Rhythmic AND Artistic Gymnastics throughout the Games. Early mornings, late finishes, quick changes, quick lunches and back out there competing… and they haven't moaned once. They have taken everything in their stride. ❤️

The medals are an amazing bonus, but what makes us proudest is the determination, teamwork, smiles and sheer effort these 9 athletes have shown.
75 medals. 34 golds. 9 absolute superstars. 🌟

We are SO, SO proud of every single one of you. ❤️

WHAT A GAMES!!! 🥇🥈🥉🏆

🌟 DAY 2 🌟

What another incredible day for our amazing team at the Special Olympics National Games! ❤️💙

This morning was all about Rhythmic hoop and ball competition quickly followed by Artistic Divisioning this afternoon. Every single one of our athletes gave it their absolute all, and we honestly couldn’t be prouder! 🤩👏

Our gymnasts have worked so hard, shown such determination and supported each other every step of the way. And our amazing coaches have worked their socks off too — coaching, encouraging, reassuring and celebrating every little achievement. ❤️

We won’t find out the results until Sunday, but right now the results are almost secondary to the incredible experience we are having.

We are having THE BEST time, making memories, laughing, cheering each other on and enjoying every single second of this incredible experience. 🥰

And our incredible Ruth and Lola featured on BBC news! Showing off their grace and confidence while performing their rhythmic routines. All we can say is that we are super proud coaches and we love watching each gymnast thrive!!
The best job ever ✨

✨ SPECIAL OLYMPICS NATIONAL GAMES – DAY 1 ✨

What a way to start the Special Olympics National Games! ❤️💙💛

It was an early start for our amazing gymnasts, with Rhythmic Divisioning first thing, followed by Artistic Podium Training — and what a day they had! 🤩

Every single one of our gymnasts was absolutely incredible. They gave everything they had, supported each other, listened to their coaches and showed such determination and excitement throughout the day.

It was a long, tiring day, but not once did they moan or complain. They just kept smiling, encouraging each other and giving it their all. 🥹❤️

As coaches, we honestly couldn't be more proud. To watch them take to that podium, represent Lings Disabilities Gymnastics Club and enjoy every second of this experience is something very special.

Day 1 done… and already we are bursting with pride! 🥰

Bring on day 2! 💪🤸‍♀️🏅

‼️Help Our Special Olympics Gymnasts Reach the National Games 2026‼️

In August 2026, nine incredible athletes from Lings Disabilities Gymnastics Club will proudly represent our club at the Special Olympics National Games in Birmingham.

The Special Olympics is a sporting organisation dedicated to children and adults with learning disabilities, providing opportunities to compete, achieve, and showcase their talents on a national and international stage. The National Games take place every four years and are the pinnacle of competition for Special Olympics athletes across Great Britain.

The last National Games were held in 2017, where my mum had the honour of taking several gymnasts to compete. The next Games were due to take place in Liverpool in 2021, but unfortunately were cancelled due to the impact of COVID-19 and infrastructure challenges. This means Birmingham 2026 will be the first National Games in almost a decade, making this event even more special for everyone involved.

We are incredibly excited and immensely proud that nine of our gymnasts have qualified to compete. For many of them, this will be the opportunity of a lifetime.

Our club has a very special history. It was founded by my late mother in the late 1980s after my younger sister, who has Down Syndrome, wanted to follow in my footsteps and take part in gymnastics. Mum quickly realised there were no local gymnastics clubs that could accommodate children with special educational needs, so she decided to create one herself.

More than 35 years later, we are proud to say that we remain the only Special Olympics gymnastics club in our county.

When my mum sadly passed away in 2024, I made a promise to continue her legacy and ensure the club would go from strength to strength. Since then, our membership has grown, our athletes have continued to compete across the country, and we have even had gymnasts represent us at the Special Olympics World Games in 2023.

This year marks the largest number of athletes we have ever qualified for the National Games, and while we are thrilled, the costs involved are significant. It is estimated to cost around £3,000 per athlete to attend, covering accommodation, meals, travel, competition fees, and essential support throughout the Games.

We believe that every athlete who has worked so hard to qualify deserves the chance to compete, regardless of financial circumstances. That is why we are asking for your support.

Any donation, no matter how small, will help our gymnasts step onto the national stage, achieve their dreams, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Your generosity will not only support nine athletes attending the Games but will also help continue the legacy of a club that has been changing lives for over three decades.

Thank you for helping our small club achieve something truly extraordinary. Together, we can give every one of our athletes the opportunity they have worked so hard to earn.

From all of our athletes, families, coaches, and volunteers thank you for your support.

Before…. And after!
11 of our incredible gymnasts competed in a special Olympics competition in Waveney over the weekend! Every single athlete came home with multiple medals, a fantastic achievement to show off their determination, dedication and hard work.
We couldn’t be prouder of everyone and what they achieved and the way they represent our club.
A truly rewarding weekend and some very proud coaches ⭐️🩷
