She didn’t finish the race.
But that doesn’t mean didn’t take anything from the race.
The plan was 33 miles.
She stood on the start line of 55.
That alone tells you a lot.
Because stepping up to something bigger on short notice doesn’t come from nowhere.
It comes from months of training, consistency, and belief in what you’ve built.
38 miles in, she had to make the call to stop.
Injury forced it. But that doesn’t take away from what she did.
The early mornings.
The long runs.
The sessions where it would’ve been easier not to not bother.
That version of you, the one you become in the process, is already there before the race even begins.
Most people look at a DNF and see failure.
I see resilience.
I see confidence to adapt when plans change.
I see strength built long before race day.
And the ability to push deep and still make the right call.
Because the truth is…
Events like this are never just about the result.
Sometimes it’s about performance.
Sometimes it’s about the experience.
Sometimes it’s about the people you share it with.
You don’t need all three for it to matter.
And this had more than enough.
The race was never the whole point.
The process is what changes you.
