An extra Forest School day at Blue Coat Primary School for the Yr6 and their Foundation Stage buddies at the end of the school year. Lots of den building, bug hunting, mud painting, hapa zome and blind fold trails.

Last sessions of 25/26 at Blue Coat Primary School . The final group of upper junior children made the soups that they had planned. A good variety with a couple of tomato and vegetable soups, a red pepper soup and a pea and potato soup. Good to see the children planning their own combinations.

Lower juniors had a campfire for their last session with the ever popular toasted marshmallows and the Reception child made Wombat Stew after hearing the story. (No wombats were harmed in the making of today’s stews.)

Another great year at an amazing school that I’m lucky enough to keep being invited back to. Coming in for a buddy day near the end of the school year, but that’s a wrap of normal sessions until 26/27.

Soup day at Forest School for Year 5.

Mixed bag of weather at Forest School today. Various activities including pencil making (my Grandad’s Stanley drill doing an excellent job of drilling the holes for the lead) for upper KS2, caramelised apples for lower KS2 and lots of bug hunting for Foundation stage. Lovely seeing the horse chestnut trees blossoming - still get a buzz every year from knowing I planted them with the parents and students in 2006 and now they are flourishing.

Sunny four days on BFS Bronze Practice working for H5 Adventure Ltd. Great students and great team of instructors. And got to successfully test my bat detector.

KS2 were using tools at Forest School this morning. Whittling pencils, sawing and decorating wooden cookies. Year 5 made sound maps and Year 3/4 did a scavenger hunt. This afternoon Foundation Stage had their first session, played 123 Where are you, bug hunted, made mud cup cakes, made crayon bark rubbings and made dens. Great first session.

Fun session with 4 clients at 270 Climbing Park Started with autobelay climbing, and then moved to the ground floor for some rope climbs of the main wall.

Lovely weather for my first Gold DofE of the year.

Lovely weather at Forest School today. Spring has sprung. Nature pictures, Kelly Kettle and toasted marshmallows activities today.

Beautiful location for a checkpoint in the Surrey Hills, until the rain came and I had to retreat into my bothy to read my book. First DofE expedition of 2026.
