Durrington Short Mat Bowls Club

Tonight we hosted Market lavington, The club that pipped us to second in the league on shot difference so we knew we were going to have to deep deep and fight. Durrington won the toss and decided to give Market Lavington the mat
Singles saw our Alex up against Alf,alex took a 4 - 1 lead after the 4th end half way through, and Alf fought back on the 7 end back to a 4-4 ! , with great nerve and skill alex won two shots winning the singles 6-4 !, Pairs were next up with Lyn and Pam up against c moule and Lyn W , After 4 ends we found ourselves 1-5 down and we need to keep the scores close for the bonus points ! on the final 8th end we managed to pull back and keep the score line down and finished 5-9 ! , great job !
On the 15 end triples we had a tough team up agaist us , Jill / Graham and Bob with Carmen /Steve and Paul T, After 8th End Durrington were doing very well keeping everything tight and stopped for refreshments that i must say was lovely x ( thanks to all who helped !) 11-4 .
2nd half
Durrington are trying to field as many players who want to play in the league so a new triple went out ( Doreen, Sandy and Paul G) up against the single and pairs from before making there triple.
After 2 ends Market Lavington had found the mat and took a 0-5 lead :( , after words of encouragement from the home teams and supporters (Ron & Morris) they turned that arround fighting for every shot and finished 8-7 and took the WIN ! what a game ...
So back on the 15 end triples well what can i say Durrington was in the zone , Carmen the LEAD was amazing all night giving very little all night , this made Steves Job as 2nd having less stressfully shots to play but he played well , leaving the Skip (Paul T) who had a great night with his orange bowls inflicting damage and saving some ends of a high shot count , they finished 24 - 6 !, what a night for Durrington SMBC ! , thank you to Market Lavington for a great nite of bowls, Next Game in 2 weeks !

so Durrington win tonight 6-1 !

Last night we hosted The White Horse Short Mat Bowls Club , The first half saw Us take both mats 7-5 & 12-7 , after refreshments we started the 2nd half but things took a turn for the worst :( , we lost but mats 5-8 & 4-11 , that making the bonus point going to The White Horse , congratulations to the winning team some really great shots last night !

Tonight we Hosted Bellinger Bowls Club in our winter League, First Half saw Durrington Win both games with a 10 Shot Advantage, after some fantasic refreshments we began the second half with no changes, Doreen /Pam and Alex had a tuff game with a team that had now found and read our mats and lost by 9 shots , Steves Team who managed to stay positive (Carmen , Paul T ) started to all perform well collectively winning by 8 shots.

Bellinger Bowls Club, is a friendly indoor short mat bowls club in the village of shipton bellinger. near Tidworth. we have 2 roll up sessions. Monday afternoon 2-4pm and Wednesday evening 7.15-9pm. we also compete in leagues and competitions

Last evening, Durrington drove over the plain to play Market Lavington. The first half saw Carmen Paul and Steve gently rack up the shots to get a comfortable 9-4 win.
Lyn Pete and Alex struggled against a determined team but secured 4 shots on the last end “thanks to back woods” to reduce their loss to 9-12.
After refreshments with lovely “come again” biscuits, Lyn, Pete and Alex pulled of a 9-8 win when Gentleman John kindly ditched the jack on the last end to help us keep our lead.
At this point with an overall advantage of 3 shots it was up to Carmen, Paul and Steve at 5 all on the fifth end to keep shots close. However they stuck their heels in and got a comfortable win 10-8.
This gave Durrington a win of 7-2 points.
Our thanks to the hosts for their warm welcome on a cold frosty evening.
It was lovely seeing Pete beaming from ear to ear as he left.

Today Wiltshire SMBA held the County/ Nationals Pairs and Durrington had two teams entered , after the draw both Durrington teams ended up in the same knockout group, Alex & Lyn and Steve & Paul T , Alex’s team Won one lost 2 , Steve’s team lost one Drew One and Won 1 ( against Alex;) ) , Steve’s team got knocked out so into the plate , Won the next game goto the semis but lost 😞 , Alex and Lyn started to put together some really consistent bowls and got to the Final !!!
They met there first opponents of the day again but this time they had belief, so much so they managed to win the FINAL without having to play the last ends , CONGRATULATIONS TO Lyn who was a fantastic lead and to Alex who play well all day

So tonight we welcomed Dinton SMBC for our 3rd game of this season, first half on mat 1 had Carmen, Paul T and Pam as skip this game played out very close but the team came good and won 10 - 6 & on Mat2 Lyn T, John K and Alex as Skip also had a tight game but managed to finish 8 - 4 , so at half time We were up 4 - 0 with 8 shots lead , Fantastic refreshments had and onto the 2nd Half , Steve S and Doreen as subs did not make a appearance so the teams stayed the same, 2nd half was Durrington playing catch up as Dinton had settled and started calling the shots , but Durrington held the shots low ( Captain and supports cheering on from the sides ) but Dinton won both mats 5 - 9 and 6 - 7 , so after a VERY close (29-26 shots) match Durrington came out victors 5 - 4 points.

Durrington SMBC hosted Chalke Valley to our second game of the winter league on 29th Nov. It was great to see familiar faces but instead of lying down and letting the home team win Chalke Valley fought us all the way. Pam, Paul and Alex managed to secure a win in the first half but Carmen, Jill and Steve closed slightly down on shots. However, shots were equal at tea time.
After tea and Chocolate Cake or Flapjack😊 Alex’s team were beaten ( very unfriendly ;) ) by one shot however, Steve’s team (with one substitution,Pete) fought back to win by 6 shots.
A close game to the finish at 4 Points all was topped by the bonus point giving Durrington the win. 32-27.

Captains view of Durrington Short Mat Bowling Club – Summer Season Success!
We’ve wrapped up our summer season with 8 games played and 6 wins — and we believe we’ve secured 2nd place in the league (awaiting official confirmation)! 🎉
This is a fantastic achievement, especially with many new players who had never played a competitive match before.
