Durham School Boat Club

Durham School Boat Club Durham School Boat Club is a school club offering rowing to students, parents, friends and other local schools. Eddie Bryant

The Boat Club, founded in 1847 is just 3-4minutes walk from school and is situated on the banks of the River Wear, overlooked by Durham Cathedral. The club houses a fleet of boats including singles, doubles, quads and eights. The school also has a land based training facility with indoor rowing ergometers and strength and conditioning equipment. Rowing is offered to all pupils in the Senior School

at an appropriate level for their physiological development. Rowing scholarships are offered to candidates with exceptional potential and a drive to succeed at 16+. Pupils from the school have gone on to represent Great Britain at Junior, University and Senior World Championships, Commonwealth and Olympic Regattas. In the last few seasons crews from the school have raced at the Mens and Womens Head of the River Races in London, won medals at the Schools Head, the National Schools Regatta and National Championships. Pupils have also gained GB selection for the Junior World Championships and Coupe de la Jeunesse in addition to representing England at the Home Countries regatta. Coaches are staff, parents and rowers in their own right, with British Rowing coaching qualifications, International rowing and coaching experience. All rowing enquiries should be directed towards the Director of Rowing.
