We have a long-standing tradition of excellence in tennis, with DULTC consistently being ranked the number one University tennis club in the UK. Our Men's and Women’s first teams are top competitors in National Leagues and

have often been known to reach the Championship finals. The club has 6 male and 5 female teams that compete in BUCS matches on a weekly basis throughout the season. The club also has a growing development squad and social tennis programme coached by some of our top postgraduate scholars, ranging from beginners to those just beneath University team level, which makes tennis a very accessible and inclusive sport to get involved in at Durham. Scholarships:
Tennis scholarships are available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. We recruit new scholars to the club annually and highly encourage competitive players to consider applying. As a rough guideline:
• Undergraduates are required to be equivalent standard of an old LTA rating 3.2 and above
• Postgraduates should have at least three years of experience of competing in the NCAA. For more information, please get in touch using the contact details listed below. Women's Tennis:
BUCS National Champions 2011 & 2017, Championship Finalists in 2014, Premier League North Winners 2011-2015, National League Winners 2016-2019, BUCS Singles Winners 2021, BUCS Doubles Winners 2022. Men's Tennis:
Premier League North Winners 2014, Championship Finalists 2013 & 2014, Championship Winners 2015-2017, National League Winners 2016, 2017 & 2020, all Durham BUCS Doubles Final 2020. Training:
Hitting sessions are held indoors, with a weekly track session available to all competitive team members and strength & conditioning sessions on offer for our performance athletes. Additionally, the club is extremely sociable and welcoming, with students often developing lifelong friendships. The Club runs a weekly Development Squad at Maiden Castle for those wanting to get great coaching from our top players and improve whilst at Durham. The times are as follows:
• Beginner/Intermediate - Thursday 12pm-1pm and Saturday 9am-11am
• Advanced – Thursday 1pm-2pm and Sunday 9am-11am
We also have social tennis, which is more relaxed and offers a great opportunity to play games and matches against other keen tennis players. The times are as follows:
• Tuesday 12pm-2pm
• Saturday: 11am-12pm
