We are pleased to announce Tabby Butterfill has been selected as DUBC’s Women’s captain for the coming season!

Tabby is a 3rd year Combined Honours student who learnt to row at Kings School Canterbury. Since being at Durham Tabby has been a core member of our Women’s 1st VIII, having reached the HRR Saturday in both 2025 and 2026.

Tabby will be looking to bring this experience to her role as Women’s captain with her aim to drive performance and encourage success. 🟣DUBC Men’s Captain 26/27 🟣

We are pleased to announce Rupert Apps has been selected as DUBC Men’s captain for the coming season!

Here is a word from Rupert:

“Fresh off a great first year in Durham studying Engineering, I am super excited to lead the squad into the 26/27 season. I learnt to row at Nottingham and Union rowing club, developed during my sixth form at Bedford school and progressed massively during a gap year at Leander club. Last season I won 4 BUCS medals, made the Friday at Henley and raced for GB at the World University Championships.

This season the DUBC men are hunting more BUCS medals, more athletes qualifying for Henley, with the ultimate target staying the same of winning at Henley Royal Regatta.

We’re building a tough, relentless squad that pushes every athlete to their best while keeping the team culture strong and enjoyable. With strong talent returning and exciting new rowers coming in, the standard is set high! I look forward to working with Vice-Captain Will Eaton and all athletes to make this a great 150th year of DUBC.”

🟣 DUBC President 26/27 🟣

We are pleased to announce Harry Wildridge has been selected as the DUBC president for the coming season!

Here is a word from Harry as we gear up for pre season: ‘I’m going into my 3rd year of studying for an MChem in chemistry. I learned to row at Yarm school before joining Durham in my 1st year. I have rowed in the first eight both years, winning silver at BUCS regatta and reaching the Friday in the Temple Challenge Cup. This summer I also raced for GB at the FISU world University Championships in the men’s eight.

I hope to help continue the clubs successes at BUCS and hope to achieve a win at Henley Royal Regatta in a student event. I will lead by example along with the captains Rupert and Tabby to make this year a historic one for DUBC, especially as it celebrates its 150 year anniversary.’

🟣🌍 World Rowing Championships 2026 🌍🟣

Last week, DUBC athletes and coaches competed at the World Rowing championships.

Izzie Kennedy raced in the 🇬🇧 women’s 8+, placing 🥈! Losing out to a very strong USA crew.

Head Coach William Fletcher coached the 🇬🇧 men’s 4- to a commanding victory, becoming world champions🏅🙌!

Lead Coach Holly Young coached the 🇬🇧 women’s 2-, who narrowly missed out on the A final placing 7th!
