London Gliding Club

London Gliding Club The London Gliding Club instructs people of all ages (15+) and backgrounds, to fly. New members are most welcome - we love sharing this marvellous sport.

We teach the art of gliding with passion and enthusiasm in an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. Every aspect of gliding is supported and we do all we can to encourage and support all club members to fulfil their gliding dreams. Some LGC pilots simply love to float around the local area, soaring peacefully, enjoying the fabulous views and leaving all their β€˜other life’ behind. Others love hig

h-adrenaline aerobatics, competitions, club run expeditions, instructing others to fly or cross country flying with flights over 300 miles common. Many airline pilots were in initially taught how to fly gliders at LGC and wanted to turn their skills into their profession. Being a member is also about teamwork and friendship. You will meet like-minded people, all facing the challenges and excitement of gliding, taking 'time out' to concentrate on flying. The club restaurant and bar is a place to chat about flying and spend time with friends. Most beginners participate in a trial lesson, one day course or one week course all of which include temporary membership. For further details click here: https://www.londonglidingclub.co.uk/gifts. Last weekend we said thank you, goodbye and all the best to our Kelly, who, together with sister Hayley, husband Adrian and a small but dedicated crew of brilliant people, has kept us fed and watered over the last few years. But this is not the end for the flyby_cafe - it'll continue to thrive under Hayley's expert leadership! πŸ’ͺ🏻

Midsummer at LGC and we managed to fly almost from dawn till dusk.
With a clever crew shift system a safe extended flying day was made possible, everyone enjoyed themselves, several people converted to their first single-seater (the K23) or to the high performance cross-country single-seater (the Discus).
Pics by various club members, thanks for allowing us to use them!

Just a reminder from Kelly and her team in the Cafe that their operating times are different to those of the club.

We’ve had a few queries lately about our opening hours being later on Google. Today we have found that this is because people are viewing the opening hours for The London Gliding Club and not actually us being The Fly-By Cafe. We apologise for confusion but we are two different places technically with differing operational hours.

So just to confirm we, The Fly-By Cafe, are open 8.30am-2pm 7 days a week!

Reminder also of our upcoming closure 22nd-31st May for competition week!

Thank you!
