GOLF/SHINTY PARTNERSHIP

We're inviting young people aged 8–13 to experience two fantastic sports this summer – golf and shinty. Whether they're completely new to both sports or have played before, this is a brilliant opportunity to learn new skills, have fun and make new friends.

Inspired by golfers such as Bob MacIntyre, who grew up playing both golf and shinty, Scottish Golf and the Camanachd Association are delighted to be working in partnership, with support from sportscotland, to deliver free summer camps.

Camp Details

Wednesday 12th of August 1000-1500.

Programme

10:00am – 12:00pm: Fun golf activities and games at Cowal Golf Club.
12:00pm – 12:30pm: Free lunch provided for all participants
12:30 – 1300: Partcipants will be taken to next activity by coaches.
1:00pm – 3:00pm: Shinty coaching and games at Dunoon astro pitch (beside golf club).
No previous experience is needed. Our qualified coaches will provide a fun, welcoming environment where everyone can have a go, regardless of ability.
All golf and shinty equipment will be provided, although participants are welcome to bring their own equipment if they have it.

Cost

Thanks to funding through the sportscotland Summer of Sport 2026 project, the camp is completely free of charge.

Final allocations and joining instructions will be confirmed before the camp.

This partnership between Scottish Golf and the Camanachd Association has been created to give young people in rural Scotland the opportunity to experience two of Scotland's great sports in a fun and inclusive environment.

We are particularly keen to welcome girls, as well as young people who may face barriers to participating in sport, including those who are less physically active or for where the cost of organised sport can be a challenge.

β›³ Restoration Update: Holes 13–18

As work continues on restoring our course to a full 18-hole layout, a specialist contractor is on-site carrying out spraying to eradicate the dense reed growth across holes 13 through 18.

🚫 For your safety and to allow the team to work efficiently, we respectfully ask everyone to avoid this area entirely today.

Bit by bit, the course is coming together - thanks for your continued support and patience! β›³πŸ‘

Today our four qualifiers from our flag event travelled to Troon to play as a team in the regional qualifiers. They were all great and done very well on what was a very tough test on a fast links course. Special mention for Ruaraidh lawns who managed to make it all the way to the final hole with his allocated 36 shots. 1 of only 8 to achieve this all day out of 72 players. Well done again to Fergus, Adam, Zeke, and. Ruaraidh.
