🏏 What a day for our U11 Girls at the Essex Mini Match Play! 💙
The girls from High Roding Cricket Club had a fantastic day of softball cricket, starting with two brilliant wins! 🎉
👏 High Roding 99–95 Wivenhoe
👏 High Roding 108–44 Terling
Due to the scheduling and a few teams pulling out, we then faced Feering twice — and what a test that turned out to be! We lost both games, 60–103 and 68–92, but the second game was a huge step forward and by far our closest contest against them.
In fact, the girls outplayed Feering on the number of runs scored, but Feering have some brilliant bowlers who took five wickets in the second game. Without those wickets, we could well have been celebrating another win! 👏🏏
Most importantly, the girls played their best cricket of the season against a very strong team. Their confidence grew with every game, even though they knew they were up against a tough side.
The fielding was superb throughout the evening. It was fantastic to see the girls putting into practice everything we’ve been working on, backing each other up, staying close to the boundaries on a small pitch, and covering the wickets. They even took a few catches, which was a first for them during match play! 🙌👏
It was brilliant to see how much they are developing not just as individual players, but as a team. They supported each other, grew in confidence and kept battling right until the end.
So proud of every single one of them. 💙🏏
