🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️ Race Weekend Round-Up

A great mix of racing for Tri Limits this weekend, from a first 70.3 in Poland to road racing in Portrush and the mountains of County Down! 👏

🇵🇱 IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań
A huge congratulations to Niamh McNally, who completed her first ever IRONMAN 70.3 in 7:03! 🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️
An even bigger achievement as Niamh used the challenge to raise an incredible £1,800 for Marie Curie. A fantastic effort both on and off the course! 💛

🏃‍♂️ Portrush 5 Miler
Brian McComb – 35:00 | 🥉 3rd Age Group
Brian was in action on Friday evening at the Portrush 5 Miler starting at West Strand and held in aid of Prostate Cancer. A speedy 35-minute finish earned Brian 3rd in his age group👏

⛰️🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️ Top of the Mournes
Mark Thompson – 2:31 | 9th Overall | 🥈 2nd Age Group
A firm favourite on the calendar, although this year brought a new split transition to navigate along with some fairly grim weather conditions! Despite a dropped chain midway up a climb costing him almost two minutes, Mark put together a strong race to finish 9th overall and 2nd in his age group. 💪

Another weekend of great racing for Tri Limits, including two brand-new IRONMEN! 👏

🇪🇪 IRONMAN Tallinn – Estonia

A huge congratulations to Mark Currie and James Wetton, who both travelled to Estonia to take on their first full IRONMAN! 💪

A massive achievement for both, completing the full 3.8km swim, 180km bike and 42.2km marathon to officially become IRONMEN! 🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️

Closer to home, Chris McGarvey was in action at the Erne SwimRun, while Jonny Wilkinson took on the GOAT Sprint Triathlon, finishing in 1:31 – a fantastic 10 minutes faster than last year and good enough for 3rd in his age group! 🥉 Great racing from both! 👏

A few great performances from the Tri Limits crew this weekend, with racing in Germany and closer to home in Westport!

🇩🇪 IRONMAN 70.3 Duisburg

Mark Thompson – 4:40
Gary Dickson – 5:21

Mark and Gary headed to Germany to take on the fast IRONMAN 70.3 Duisburg course.

Mark has been chasing that sub-5 hour 70.3 and finally nailed it in style, crossing the line in a brilliant 4:40! 💥 A fantastic result.
For Gary, it was his first IRONMAN 70.3, putting together a great race to finish in an impressive 5:21. Brilliant debut👏

Simon Teague – 1:19 | 🥇
Closer to home, Simon was in action at the Westport Super Sprint, finishing in 1:19 and taking 1st place in his age group! 🥇

📣Race Weekend Round-Up

Lots on this week for the Tri Limits crew, with members racing everywhere from the French and Swiss Alps to Sheffield, Carlingford, Newbridge and Athlone! Some brilliant performances across triathlon, running, cycling and aquathlon 👏

🏊‍♂️🚴‍♂️🏃‍♂️ Alpe d’Huez Triathlon
Karle Farquhar – 11:44 2.2km🏊‍♂️118km🚴🏻20k🏃🏻‍♂️
A retirement race and definitely one for the bucket list! The swim was absolutely stunning (and fast!), before a tough bike leg through the Alps. Cycling in the Alps has to be a dream for any cyclist, and getting to climb one of the most famous climbs(21 bends) in cycling made it even more special. Then came the run at over 1,800m altitude – maybe not too much running done by that stage 😅 – but Karle got it done and dusted. An amazing event and one he would highly recommend!

⛰️🏃‍♂️ Swiss Alps 100 – 50km Ultra Run
Cillian Reid – 8:27 | 34th Male, 45th overall
A serious day out in the Swiss Alps! The 50km route packs in a massive 3,200m of elevation, crossing the Aspi-Titter suspension bridge over the Massa Gorge and the Mühlebach-Furgangen bridge, as well as long stretches overlooking the incredible Aletsch Glacier. Fantastic running from Cillian to finish in 8:27 and 34th male. 👏⛰️

🏅 British Transplant Games – Sheffield
A fantastic medal haul for Keith Murphy, with three age group silver medals! 🥈🥈🥈
🚴 M30–39 5km Time Trial – 🥈 | 2nd Overall
🚴 M30–39 10km Road Race – 🥈 | 3rd Overall
🏃‍♂️ M30–39 5km Race – 🥈 | 6th Overall
Absolutely brilliant racing across both the bike and run!

A big milestone for Jonny, completing his first Olympic-distance triathlon in a brilliant 2:25 in the beautiful Cooley mountains. Congratulations! 👏
