The iQFOiL World Championships 2026 are coming to Weymouth & Portland in September!

As part of the social impact programme, ELEVATE, volunteer training is being organised for young people with the aim of them becoming volunteers of the future and role models within their local clubs or organisations.

Over the weekend of 4-5 July, the RYA will be running a Race Management Taster Day, covering mark-laying and race officer skills with all the essentials needed to run fun racing at your club, with friends or for training.

You can also help bring sustainability to life at your club or centre and train to be a Marine CSI Instructor.

A team from Pennine had a fantastic day. Big thank you North East & Yorkshire Youth Sailing and Filey Sailing Club for making them so welcome and giving support. A huge thank you to Ed from Ulley Sailing Club who saved the day when one of our sailors had car (and hence boat transport) problems.

The bank holiday may be over but as the warm weather continues and we head into summer, please remember the damages of swimming in reservoirs such as Winscar where Pennine is based. Check out this video from Yorkshire Water or see its website for more advice how to stay safe. Link in the comments.

High recommend the North East & Yorkshire Youth Sailing Traveller series for any junior and youth sailors in the region. Link to website for details in the comments. Pennine is hosting a round on 27th June.

On Saturday 30 May the series is excited to be heading back to Welton Water after a long absence.

We aren't quite sure when the regional Y&J last went racing there but in the early 1990's regional sailors used to descend to participate in some double handed team racing hosted from the Welton Waters Activities Centre held in Mirrors. The committee can't quite remember the details (because we were all very young at the time, not that we're too old to remember it now) apart from it was always hotly contested and a lot of fun on a great stretch of water.

On Saturday we return to the water as guests of Welton Sailing Club who will be running round 8 of the series. Please get your entries in by 9pm on Thursday so that the club can plan. Information on the website as usual.
