Finally got around to sorting out my wet bike! A wee thank you to Liam Hanson and to Raymond Murray(one of the marshalls at East Fortune), I finally got a good running engine back in it after removing it to replace an engine in the other race bike after a gear box issue. J model zx6r. It's not the quickest little bike, fairly standard, but I have managed to get finishes of 7th and 8th on it in the past. And yes I have crashed it too! πŸ˜†. May put it up for sale once dialed in a bit, and a little bit of fairing damage to repair. Would make an excellent track bike for someone starting out or someone thinking about racing. I'll keep yous posted.

Well the weekend at East Fortune went better than expected. Stayed upright and finished all 4 races with no major mechanical issues. The pace was very fast, but all in all a good weekend. Qualified 10th of 23. Race1 10th, race2 9th, race3 10th, and race4 8th dipping into the 1.04's on an engine I wasn't too sure about. A couple of suspension tweaks advised by a seasoned racer and competitor seemed to help in the braking zones. Thank you Gordon. A couple of wee oil weeps to take care of, and a few more wee things to try. Who knows, might just get another weekend this year. 🀞🏻

When I started this page, I was hoping to have a fairly good race season. I've had some good race weekends, and also some not so good race weekends. I'll be at East Fortune for the next event. However, it may be my last event. It's incredibly difficult being self funded and having to overcome many setbacks over the last year. Dis heartened, but it is what it is. But hey, at least I get 1 more weekend of racing.

Not a lot of luck this year! This little culprit resulted in a dropped valve last time out at East Fortune. After qualifying 6th, and finishing 8th in the first race in sketchy conditions after a few slidey moments, I was looking forward to a better result once the weather had cleared up a bit. In the second race, got a great start and held 4th position until halfway through the second lap of 8, the,"Oh no!" noise happened. The wee bike felt good, suspension finally dialled in, and was actually feeling like there could be a good result. As dis heartening as things have been this year, even with the support my good lady, that's racing!

Well after a disastrous outing at Knockhill a few weeks ago, the repairs continue. Even though a bit of a freak accident occurred during testing on the Friday when a bibbed rider lost power, never put his hand up or foot out, veered more than half way across the track and right in front of me, a collision occurred. The high speed off resulted in a fractured right hand and a good bit of damage to the bike. After sourcing parts, and some fiberglassing on Saturday, medical did allow me to continue on, therefore able to race on Sunday. Starting at the back of the grid in 21st managed to get to 14th then a 13th in the next race. Still doing repairs and making things πŸ˜‚ should have it back together for East Fortune in a couple of weeks.

Well the weekend at East Fortune went better than expected! Started out with a clutch issue again, but by replacing a few thicker clutch plates after race 1 to create the desired stack height, things started to look a bit more positive. Qualified 4th. Race 1: 4th, Race 2: 6th, Race 3: 5th, and in Race 4: another 4th place. Being the first time riding on slicks, a thank you to Arthur Christie for the donation of slightly scrubbed set of slicks to try. All in all, a good weekend. But most of all a big thank you to my good lady for all her help, work, and support to make it a good weekend.

Let's see what happens this weekend at East Fortune! Last time out, clutch issues arose, qualifying 10th, but got a 9th in the first race. A dead battery prior to the second race led to a DNS. By the time we got to the third race, hoping we'd got things sorted, a fellow rider fell from his bike at the first corner, right in front of me on the warm up lap, resulting in me just missing him, yet riding over his bike by what some had called the jump scene from The Great Escape! Luckily the fellow rider was okay, however, another DNS as a result of a burst front tyre. That's racing.

Got it sorted! Just to put the seat unit back on. We'll make East Fortune! 😁

Wee update. So I decided to take the engine out of the wet bike due to it having a good bottom end and gearbox. So just waiting on a head gasket and then I can put my good top end back together. Yes I do my own spanner work, as well as a few little modifications. So we should get Frankenkwak all back together in the next few days and we are looking forward to East Fortune next weekend. Hopefully this sorts a few things out until I put an engine back in the wet bike. Being self funded can be a bit trying at times, and being one of the quicker Kawasaki's on the grid. We're still learning.
