These kindness cards were kindly gifted to me by , and I sat down and read through every single one. 🤍

😊 Some of them made me smile.

💭 Some of them made me stop and think.

🤍 And if I’m being completely honest, a couple of them made me feel a little uncomfortable. Those were probably the ones I needed to hear the most… and I wonder if that’s true for a lot of us.

In class recently, we spoke about showing ourselves the same kindness we’d so freely offer to other people.

We’re often patient with our friends, understanding with our family, and encouraging with our colleagues… yet when it comes to ourselves, we’re usually our own toughest critic.

I think these cards are a lovely reminder to pause for a moment and offer ourselves that same kindness.

I’d love to know… which message caught your eye first? 🤍

Thinking about trying yoga but have a few questions first? 🌿

You’re not alone.

Some of the questions I hear most often are:

✨ Do I need to be flexible?
✨ What should I wear?
✨ What should I bring?
✨ Am I too old to start?
✨ What if I’ve never done yoga before?

The good news?

Most people who come to my classes start as complete beginners.

You don’t need to be flexible.
You don’t need fancy leggings.
You don’t need any experience.

You simply need to turn up exactly as you are.

Swipe through for answers to some of the questions I get asked most often.

And if there’s something I haven’t covered, pop a comment below or send me a message. I’m always happy to help. 🌿

Last night I went to a yoga class 😊

❌ Not to teach.

❌ Not to cover.

❌ Not to observe.

❌ Not to plan.

💛 Just to be a student.

And I almost didn’t make it.

I got caught in traffic and found myself sitting in the car almost ready to cry at the thought of missing the class.

I think that’s because I knew how much I needed that hour.

Ever since I became a yoga teacher, my own practice has gradually taken a back seat.

I’ve still been teaching.

I’ve still been supporting my students.

I’ve still been sharing the wonderful benefits of yoga.

But teaching and practising are not the same thing.

I’ve noticed that even more since injuring my shoulder in January.

These days I demonstrate far less than I used to. Instead, I’m watching the room, checking my cues are landing, making sure everyone is comfortable and getting what they need from class.

And while that’s made me a better teacher, somewhere along the way I stopped being a student.

Last night reminded me how much I missed that.

Thank you to Amy at Element Centre for Wellbeing for holding such a wonderful class in a beautiful space 💛

I practised with my eyes closed for most of the class.

I didn’t need to think about what was coming next.

I didn’t need to plan anything.

I didn’t need to analyse anything.

My teaching brain got a night off.

Instead, I just got to breathe, move and be present.

And because Amy teaches differently to me, I couldn’t predict what was coming next.

That was such a gift 🎁

For 60 minutes I just got to be in the room.

Not responsible for anybody else.

Just me.

I left feeling calmer, went on to teach my own class feeling like a much better version of myself, and slept better than I have in weeks.

A gentle reminder that if you spend your life looking after other people, you still need spaces where somebody looks after you too.

Thank you, Amy 💛

Here’s hoping I’ve found my way back to being a student again 🥰

1,000 Facebook Followers?! 🌿

Nine years ago I created this page with absolutely no idea where it would lead.

Since then there have been classes in village halls, church halls and health clubs, hundreds of yoga classes, plenty of nerves before teaching, lots of learning, and so many wonderful people who have rolled out a mat with me.

Today this little page reached 1,000 followers.

For some businesses that might not sound like much, but for a local independent yoga teacher, every single person behind that number means something.

Whether you’ve come to a class, shared a post, left a review, recommended me to a friend, attended an event, or simply followed along quietly from the sidelines, THANK YOU 🥰

Yoga Nic wouldn’t exist without this community.

Here’s to the next chapter. 💙

Sometimes as a small business owner, you put your heart into something and hope people enjoy it.

Then a review like this lands in your inbox and completely makes your day ☺️

Thank you so much to everyone who chooses to spend part of their week with me on the mat. Whether you’ve been coming for years or you’ve only just walked through the door, your support means more than you know. 💙

And a special thank you to Abbo for taking the time to leave such a kind review.

June is here ☀️

The Summer Solstice is just around the corner, the days are at their longest, and although the Scottish weather still seems determined to keep us guessing 🌦️😅, this is such a lovely time of year to get moving.

Maybe you’ve been spending more time in the garden, walking a bit more, travelling at weekends, or simply trying to keep up with a busier diary.

If your back feels a little tight, your shoulders are creeping upwards, or your body is asking for a bit of attention, yoga and Pilates can help.

💪 Pilates helps build strength, stability and confidence in your body.

🧘‍♀️ Yoga helps you stretch, breathe and properly switch off for a while.

And if you’ve ever avoided classes because you don’t fancy mirrors, filming or any pressure to look a certain way…

That’s not what we do here.

✔️ No mirrors
✔️ No recording
✔️ No pressure
✔️ Mats & props provided

Just real people moving their bodies and feeling better for it.

June bookings are now open and I’d love to welcome you along 🤍

Last night’s restorative yoga class was all about the wall.

No handstands.

No strength work.

No flexibility goals.

Just support.

When everyone walks into a wall class, there’s always a little buzz around the room.

“It’s my favourite kind of class.”

“What are we doing tonight?”

People get excited because it’s something a little different.

Then something lovely happens.

The chatter fades.

The movements slow.

The breathing softens.

The energy in the room changes.

We used the wall for Legs Up The Wall, Baddha Konasana, Puppy Pose, Downward Dog, Tadasana and more.

Not because the wall makes the poses harder.

Because it helps the body let go.

One of my favourite parts of teaching restorative yoga is watching people arrive carrying the weight of their week and leave looking lighter than when they came in.

That’s why it’s my favourite class to teach. 🤍
