MY BALANCE IS RUBBISH š
One of the most common things I hear in Yoga.
But hereās the thingā¦
There are 168 hours / 10,080 minutes in a week.
How many of those minutes do you actually spend standing on one leg?
For most of us⦠zero. Unless you come to Yoga. š
You wouldnāt expect to run a marathon without training, so why do we expect our balance to magically be brilliant when we ask it to do something it rarely practises?
Balance is a skill. And like most things, it gets better with practice.
It matters too. Good balance, alongside strength and mobility, helps us with all the everyday stuff we take for granted, from getting dressed and climbing stairs to walking the dog and, importantly, reducing the risk of falls as we get older.
And the good news? Itās never too late to work on it.
So, what can you do?
Come to Yoga š
And try thisā¦
šŖ„ Stand on one leg while brushing your teeth in the morning.
šŖ„ The other leg at night.
Thatās roughly 6 minutes of balance practice a day without adding another thing to your to-do list.
And if you wobble?
Good. Thatās the practice. š
This weekās balance challenge had us putting that theory into practice. Have a watch⦠and have a go.
Which leg is your good one? š
