A very special young lady, Kerys Ballard, gave the key note speech at our 10 year party. She speaks for so many young people with a disability. It melts the â¤ď¸.
â Firstly, I just want to say congratulations on reaching 10 years at Pitreavie Framerunning # # club. Thatâs an incredible milestone, and itâs something everyone here should be really proud of.
When I first came along, I never imagined just how much this sport would come to mean to me. At first, it was simply something to do. But over time, it became so much more than that. Itâs been incredible to watch the club grow over the years. I still remember when we first started with only a few bikes, and now seeing how many people have had the chance to get involved is really special.
It gave me confidence when I didnât have much. It gave me something to look forward to every week. It gave me opportunities to challenge myself, make memories, and meet some truly amazing people. It has also helped my physical health improving my mobility and strength which has made a massive difference to my life. And Iâm aware of how this has been the case for other athletes too.
Living with a disability can sometimes make you feel like certain doors are closed, but this club has never made me feel limited. Instead, itâs encouraged me to focus on what I can do, not what I canât. That has made a huge difference in my life.
I also want to say a massive thank you to all of the volunteers started this club and made it into what it is today. You give up your evenings, weekends, and free time because you genuinely care about the people here. You probably donât always realise the impact you have, but it goes far beyond coaching or organising sessions.
Youâve created a place where people feel welcomed, supported, and included. A place where friendships are made, confidence grows, and everyone is given the chance to succeed in their own way.
To everyone whoâs helped make this club what it is over the last 10 years whether youâve been here since the beginning or joined more recently thank you. Youâve changed lives, including mine.
Iâm incredibly grateful to be part of this community, and I know Iâm not the only one who feels that way.
Hereâs to everything thatâs been achieved over the last decade, and to many more years of helping people discover what theyâre capable of.
Thank you.â
