On Sunday, 31st May, 40 of our youth players made the trip across the water to take part in the annual Inverleith Youth Festival.

Our U10s started the day brilliantly, playing some excellent hockey and finishing top of their group. After a tied semi-final was decided by rock, paper, scissors, they moved into the 3rd/4th place playoff, where they faced a strong Kelso side and finished an impressive 4th overall. A fantastic achievement, especially as it was the first festival experience for many of the team.

Our Dragons competed in a strong U12 main division. Once they found their rhythm, they played some excellent hockey and worked hard throughout the morning, earning a well-deserved 4th place finish in the Bowl competition.
Our Dolphins got off to a flying start by winning their opening game in the development tournament. They then faced some strong opposition but continued to battle right until the final whistle, securing an impressive 4th place finish in the Plate competition.
Our Dynamos were also in the development tournament and they took a couple of games to settle into the tournament, but once they found their feet they produced some strong performances and finished with a commendable 4th place finish in the Bowl competition.

Our Dragonflies faced some very strong and experienced teams in their group matches. Despite the tough opposition, they grew in confidence with every game and carried that momentum into the Thimble semi-final and final. After a tense penalty shootout to decide the winner, they came out on top to lift the Thimble trophy.
Our Dinosaurs also faced strong opposition in the group stages but continued to improve throughout the day. They progressed to the Bowl competition and, following excellent performances in both the semi-final and final, were crowned Bowl winners.
Every player should be incredibly proud of the performances they put in throughout the day. Their attitude, effort and sportsmanship were a credit to the club. A huge thank you goes to all the parents, carers and guardians who transported players to and from Mary Erskine School. Days like this wouldn't be possible without your support. Finally, a special thank you to Ciara for getting so many kids involved and organising the squads, and to Emma, Joanna and Owen for helping to coach and manage teams throughout the day.
