So last weekend was the last round of this year's NKF Championship, and even though it was at our home track, it proved to be hardest of them all. However, Aidan managed to do what he does best and still scored enough points to secure 2nd place in the Championship. 🏆
We struggled for pace on the Saturday and quickly knew the racing on the Sunday would be tough.
Heat 1 started 13th on the grid but made some good overtakes and crossed the line 4th. After a penalty Aidan was promoted to 3rd overall, but finished 2nd for NKF.
Heat 2 started 6th but a bad start on the wrong side of the track saw him lose quite a few places at the start. A bit harder this time to move up but still managed to get back up to 5th overall, but actually 1st place for NKF.
Heat 3 started 3rd and after a great clean race with Charlie Walsh and Ollie Dilks he crossed the line 3rd but again 1st for NKF.
For the final he qualified 3rd and battled hard right up until the last lap when he broke down due to a broken wire at the battery and then got hit from behind which damaged the kart and he finished with a DNF.
Not the final we wanted but a great result overall for the year. Finishing 2nd in the Championship, having raced at tracks we've never been to across England and Wales, is a great achievement and now we look forward to a wee trip to Silverstone in December for the trophy presentation.
The racing from all the boys this year has been excellent and brilliant to watch. Clean, respectful and demonstrating you can still race good and hard without losing Race 'n' Respect. So a massive well done to Charlie Walsh, Ollie Dilks, Ewan McKenna, Ben Sherriff, Edward Norton, James Bonner, Ryan Evans, and Oliver Founds. Also further congratulations to Charlie on his Championship win. Congratulations also to Connor Leishman for finishing 2nd in this year's Honda Cadet Championship.
Thanks to Duncan, Martyn and Blair at for their support throughout the season.
Bring on 2020.
