๐ Pembrey โ MINI Challenge Clubsport Round 3
๐
20thโ21st June
A mixed weekend at Pembrey, but one that showed plenty of determination and resilience from everyone involved.
Qualifying
Unfortunately, a mechanical issue struck immediately when the exhaust came loose on my out lap. I had to return to the pits to rectify the problem, which meant I was unable to complete the qualifying session.
Race 1
Starting from P9, we made a solid getaway and worked our way through the tight and technical Pembrey circuit, gaining several positions. However, on lap 8 the exhaust decided to make another bid for freedom and leave the car once again! Thankfully, the team and Rob Fletcher worked with the team and quickly got to the issue before Race 2. We brought the car home in P7 from 10 starters.
Race 2
Another decent start, but taking the outside line into Turn 1 compromised the exit and dropped us back to P9. From there, we fought hard and recovered to finish P7 from 9 starters.
Race 3
A strong launch saw me dive up the inside of Car #14, only to get caught in a MINI sandwich that caused significant damage to the front passenger-side suspension. The impact knocked the steering geometry out, leaving the car with severe understeer for the remainder of the race. Despite the damage, we managed to bring the car home in P7 from 9 starters.
Weekend Summary
Overall, it was a decent weekend considering the challenges we faced. If I'm honest, Pembrey isn't one of my favourite circuits, but every race weekend is a learning opportunity. We'll take the positives, repair the damage, regroup, and focus on Snetterton in three weeks' time.
This event almost didn't happen, so I owe a huge thank you to everyone who helped get me to the grid.
Special Thanks to:
โค๏ธ My mum โ my rock and biggest supporter.
โฝ Fuel Fixer โ for continuing to push me and help generate the work needed to fund my racing.
๐ John Wyatt Jewellers โ for stepping in at the last minute and helping fund repairs following the Thruxton damage.
๐๏ธ TnS Racing โ for their unwavering support throughout the weekend. Mackenzie, Dillon, Oliver and Richard, Mark Heap โ thank you.
๐ And finally, thank you to all the marshals, officials, volunteers and spectators. Without you, none of us would be out there racing and chasing our dreams.
Now it's time to repair, reset and get ready for Snetterton.
See you trackside. ๐๐งก
